About Anthropic
Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About The Role
We are seeking a Strategic Deals Lead to originate, structure, and close complex infrastructure deals critical to Anthropic's compute, networking, and memory strategy. In this role, you will lead end-to-end deal execution — from initial term sheet through final agreement — working across internal and external stakeholders to secure the infrastructure capacity Anthropic needs to stay at the frontier of AI development. Anthropic's AI models depend on large-scale, tightly coordinated infrastructure spanning accelerator clusters, high-speed interconnects, and memory subsystems. Ensuring we can access and deploy that infrastructure at scale requires sophisticated deal-making with some of the world's largest technology companies. You will work closely with engineering, finance, and legal teams to structure transactions, negotiate terms, and close agreements with hyperscalers, semiconductor manufacturers, networking vendors, and memory suppliers. This role is fundamentally about deal leadership — bringing together technical understanding, financial acumen, and negotiating skill to secure strategic infrastructure at the terms and timelines Anthropic requires. You will be an integral part of a team focused on ensuring Anthropic has the resources it needs to pursue its mission of developing safe, beneficial AI systems.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the full deal lifecycle for complex infrastructure transactions — from opportunity identification and term sheet development through negotiation, execution, and close
- Structure and negotiate large-scale agreements with hyperscalers, AI infrastructure companies, telecom providers, semiconductor manufacturers, and memory suppliers across compute, networking, and memory domains
- Develop and drive financial models, term analyses, and commercial frameworks to support deal structuring and inform executive decision-making
- Translate complex technical requirements from engineering into commercially viable deal structures and contractual terms
- Build and maintain senior-level relationships with strategic counterparties to identify and advance deal opportunities
- Partner with Legal, Finance, and Engineering to align deal terms with Anthropic's technical, financial, and risk requirements
- Evaluate vendor and partner proposals, identify risks and trade-offs, and drive toward optimal deal outcomes
- Provide clear reporting on deal status, risks, and strategic implications to senior leadership
Minimum Qualifications
- Demonstrated track record of leading and closing complex, high-value technology transactions or strategic agreements
- Experience structuring and negotiating deals within the technology space (hyperscalers, AI infrastructure, semiconductors, networking, telecom, or data center infrastructure)
- Strong financial modeling and analytical skills, including experience with deal economics, vendor financing structures, and investment analysis
- Technical fluency in high-speed networking (InfiniBand, Ethernet, optical interconnects) or memory technologies (DRAM, HBM, or related); familiarity with compute or silicon development a plus
- Demonstrated ability to drive complex negotiations with large, sophisticated counterparties to favorable outcomes
- Experience working at or negotiating with hyperscalers, telecom providers, or AI infrastructure companies
- Strong communication and executive presence, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders internally and externally
Preferred Qualifications
- 8–10 years of experience in strategic deals, corporate development, investment banking, or business development roles at technology companies, hyperscalers, telecom companies, or AI infrastructure firms
- Background in corporate development, including experience with M&A or strategic investments in networking, storage, memory, or adjacent infrastructure domains
- Familiarity with AI/ML infrastructure requirements, including training cluster design, network topology, and memory bandwidth and capacity constraints
- Experience with vendor financing, equipment leasing, or capital markets structures applied to infrastructure procurement
- Understanding of supply chain dynamics for high-demand infrastructure components (CPUs, network ASICs, HBM)
- Background in technical due diligence or technology mergers and acquisitions
- A passion for Anthropic's mission and ensuring safe AI development
Annual Salary
$325,000—$425,000 USD
Logistics
Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
Required field of study: A field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience
Minimum years of experience: Years of experience required will correlate with the internal job level requirements for the position
Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices.
Visa sponsorship: We do sponsor visas! However, we aren't able to successfully sponsor visas for every role and every candidate. But if we make you an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa, and we retain an immigration lawyer to help with this.
We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification. Not all strong candidates will meet every single qualification as listed. Research shows that people who identify as being from underrepresented groups are more prone to experiencing imposter syndrome and doubting the strength of their candidacy, so we urge you not to exclude yourself prematurely and to submit an application if you're interested in this work. We think AI systems like the ones we're building have enormous social and ethical implications. We think this makes representation even more important, and we strive to include a range of diverse perspectives on our team.
Your safety matters to us.

How We're Different
We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills. The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
Come work with us!
Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues.

Frame Your Experience Around AI Strategy
Anthropic hires strategy professionals who can think rigorously about frontier AI development, not just general corporate planning. Tailor your resume and portfolio to show experience with technology strategy, research commercialization, or policy in science-intensive industries.
Target Roles That Align With Your Visa Type
If you hold an E-3 or H-1B1 visa, confirm the specific Strategy role requires a specialized degree field before applying. Anthropic files across multiple visa categories, so identifying which classification fits your background sharpens your approach before the offer stage.
Research Anthropic's Strategic Priorities Before Interviews
Anthropic's strategy function is deeply tied to responsible AI deployment and safety research. Demonstrating fluency in their published research agenda and policy positions signals you can operate in a science-led environment, which hiring managers weight heavily for Strategy roles.
Prepare Your Specialty Occupation Documentation Early
USCIS scrutinizes H-1B petitions for Strategy roles more closely than for technical positions. Gather evidence that your specific role requires a relevant bachelor's degree or higher, including job descriptions, your degree transcripts, and any credential evaluations for non-U.S. qualifications.
Use Migrate Mate to Find Open Strategy Roles at Anthropic
Anthropic posts Strategy openings across multiple job boards, making it hard to track which roles actively support visa sponsorship. Migrate Mate filters verified sponsoring employers so you can surface current Anthropic Strategy listings without manually screening each posting.
Align Your Start Date With H-1B Cap Timing
If you need a cap-subject H-1B, USCIS accepts petitions in April for an October 1 start date. Coordinate your offer and negotiations with Anthropic's recruiting team early enough that your petition can be filed in the relevant registration window without delaying your start.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Anthropic sponsor H-1B visas for Strategys?
Yes, Anthropic sponsors H-1B visas for Strategy roles. The company has a consistent record of filing H-1B petitions across corporate functions, including strategy and business operations. If you're in the H-1B lottery pool or need a transfer from an existing H-1B, Anthropic's recruiting team handles sponsorship through the standard USCIS petition process.
Which visa types does Anthropic sponsor for Strategy roles?
Anthropic sponsors H-1B, H-1B1 visa, and E-3 visas for Strategy positions. H-1B is available to most nationalities, while H-1B1 is reserved for Chilean and Singaporean nationals and E-3 for Australian citizens. All three require the role to qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS guidelines, which Strategy roles at a research-intensive company like Anthropic typically satisfy.
What qualifications does Anthropic expect for Strategy roles?
Anthropic generally looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as economics, business, public policy, or a technical discipline. For senior Strategy roles, prior experience in management consulting, venture capital, or technology policy is common. Roles tied to AI safety or research strategy may also value familiarity with machine learning research environments.
How do I apply for Strategy jobs at Anthropic?
Applications go through Anthropic's careers page, where Strategy roles are listed under business and operations functions. You can also browse verified sponsoring employers and filter for open Anthropic Strategy positions on Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles confirmed to support visa sponsorship. Tailor your application to highlight experience relevant to AI-driven industries rather than general strategic planning.
How do I manage the timeline between an offer and my visa filing?
Once Anthropic extends an offer, your employer typically initiates the H-1B or E-3 petition process, which includes filing a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before USCIS receives the I-129 petition. For cap-subject H-1B cases, registration opens in March and work authorization begins October 1 at the earliest, so build that gap into your start date discussions with the hiring team.
