Frame your background in life sciences strategy
Thermo Fisher's Strategy teams work on problems specific to biopharma, diagnostics, and lab supply markets. Candidates who can speak to competitive dynamics in those sectors, not just general corporate strategy, move further in the process.
Target roles tied to business units
Thermo Fisher structures Strategy hiring around its major segments, including Life Sciences Solutions and Specialty Diagnostics. Applying to roles anchored to a specific business unit signals alignment and increases your chances of finding a team actively building out capacity.
Confirm OPT eligibility before your first interview
If you're on F-1 OPT, verify your STEM extension is active and that your program code is listed on the STEM OPT designated degree list. Thermo Fisher's HR teams expect international candidates to arrive with this paperwork ready, not to clarify it mid-process.
Understand the H-1B timeline relative to offer timing
If you receive an offer outside the October start window, work with the recruiter early on cap-gap or change-of-status timing. USCIS sets fixed H-1B filing windows each April, so your start date and authorization period need to align before signing anything.
Search Thermo Fisher Strategy openings on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for visa-sponsoring employers, so you can browse current Strategy openings at Thermo Fisher without sorting through roles that don't support international candidates. It cuts out the filtering work upfront.
Prepare for a structured case interview process
Thermo Fisher's Strategy interviews typically include case-based rounds alongside behavioral screens. Preparing examples that connect financial analysis or market sizing to a science or research industry context gives you a clear edge over candidates with only generalist consulting backgrounds.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Thermo Fisher Scientific sponsor H-1B visas for Strategys?
Yes, Thermo Fisher Scientific sponsors H-1B visas for Strategy roles. The company has an active international hiring track record across its corporate and business unit strategy functions. Sponsorship eligibility is typically confirmed during the offer stage, and Thermo Fisher works with immigration counsel to manage H-1B filing timelines aligned to USCIS cap seasons.
How do I apply for Strategy jobs at Thermo Fisher Scientific?
Applications go through Thermo Fisher's careers portal, where Strategy roles are listed under functions like Corporate Development, Strategic Planning, or Business Strategy. You can also find and filter open positions on Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles at companies with confirmed visa sponsorship history so you can prioritize applications more efficiently.
Which visa types does Thermo Fisher Scientific commonly use for Strategy hires?
Thermo Fisher supports H-1B sponsorship as the primary path for Strategy professionals, along with F-1 OPT and CPT for candidates still completing U.S. degree programs. TN visas are available for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying analytical or business roles. For longer-term employees, the company also pursues EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process.
What qualifications does Thermo Fisher Scientific expect for Strategy roles?
Most Strategy positions require a bachelor's degree at minimum, with MBA or advanced degrees preferred for senior-level work. Thermo Fisher values candidates with backgrounds in management consulting, investment banking, or internal strategy functions at life sciences or technology companies. Familiarity with commercial strategy in biopharma, diagnostics, or laboratory markets is a recurring signal across job postings.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Strategy offer at Thermo Fisher Scientific?
Timing depends on your current status. F-1 OPT candidates can start quickly, provided authorization is already active. H-1B sponsorship requires filing in April for an October start, which can create a gap of several months. USCIS premium processing can reduce the petition adjudication window to around 15 business days, though it does not change the cap-subject start date.
