Frame your background around regulated product development
Thermo Fisher's PM roles often sit inside FDA-regulated or GxP environments. Highlight any experience with product launches, lifecycle management, or requirements documentation in biotech, pharma, or lab instrumentation to signal readiness for their domain.
Align your degree to the specialty occupation standard
H-1B eligibility requires your role to qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS guidelines. For Product Manager positions in science and research, a degree in engineering, life sciences, or a related technical field strengthens your petition and reduces RFE risk.
Target divisions actively hiring, not just open requisitions
Thermo Fisher operates distinct business units including Life Sciences Solutions, Specialty Diagnostics, and Laboratory Products. Search Migrate Mate to filter Product Manager openings by division and identify where hiring activity is concentrated before you apply.
Clarify sponsorship scope during the offer stage
Before signing, confirm whether your offer covers H-1B transfer, new cap-subject filing, or both. Thermo Fisher's HR and immigration teams handle this internally, but you need to ask explicitly so there are no gaps in your timeline or status.
Prepare for PERM if your goal is permanent residence
Many Product Manager roles at large science companies lead to EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship via PERM labor certification through DOL. Understanding the PERM prevailing wage requirement early helps you negotiate an offer that won't create problems at the certification stage.
Use OPT strategically to build internal sponsorship history
If you're on F-1 OPT or STEM OPT extension, joining Thermo Fisher in a PM capacity builds an employment record with the company before your H-1B petition. Internal transfers at H-1B time are smoother when hiring managers already know your performance.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Thermo Fisher Scientific sponsor H-1B visas for Product Managers?
Yes, Thermo Fisher Scientific sponsors H-1B visas for Product Manager roles. The company has established immigration infrastructure and works with immigration counsel to file cap-subject petitions and transfers. Product Manager positions typically qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS criteria, particularly when the role requires a technical degree in a field directly related to the product area.
How do I apply for Product Manager jobs at Thermo Fisher Scientific?
Applications go through Thermo Fisher's careers portal at thermofisher.com. Search by job function and filter for Product Management. Roles are distributed across multiple business units, so applying to a specific division aligned with your background, such as laboratory instruments, diagnostics, or biosciences reagents, gives your application more relevance. Tailoring your resume to the product domain matters here.
Which visa types does Thermo Fisher Scientific commonly sponsor for Product Managers?
Thermo Fisher sponsors H-1B visas for most international Product Manager hires. The company also supports F-1 OPT and CPT for students and new graduates, TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying roles, and EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship through the PERM process for longer-term permanent residence pathways.
What qualifications does Thermo Fisher Scientific expect from Product Manager candidates?
Most Product Manager roles at Thermo Fisher require a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as biology, chemistry, engineering, or a closely related discipline. Many postings also expect prior experience in life sciences, medical devices, or laboratory products. Technical fluency with the product domain is weighted heavily because PMs here work directly with R&D and regulatory teams, not just commercial functions.
How do I find Product Manager roles at Thermo Fisher Scientific that offer visa sponsorship?
Not every job posting makes sponsorship eligibility explicit, which makes it hard to know where to focus. Use Migrate Mate to browse Product Manager openings at Thermo Fisher Scientific filtered by visa type, so you can prioritize roles where sponsorship has been confirmed rather than guessing from generic job board listings.
