Verify Your Credentials Before Applying
International nursing credentials must be evaluated by CGFNS or a NCSBN-recognized body before Appalachian Regional Healthcare can move forward with sponsorship. Get your credentials assessed early so licensing delays don't stall an offer.
Target Rural and Underserved Facility Postings
Appalachian Regional Healthcare operates in regions with persistent nursing shortages. Positions at facilities serving rural or underserved populations often have more flexibility in the hiring timeline, giving internationally sponsored candidates a stronger foothold.
Understand the EB-3 PERM Timeline for Nurses
Registered Nurse roles typically qualify under EB-3. The PERM labor certification process through DOL can take a year or more before USCIS sees your petition, so factor that into your planning if you're seeking permanent residency.
Clarify H-1B Filing Cycles During Interviews
H-1B petitions are subject to the annual cap with an April filing window. Ask your recruiter directly whether Appalachian Regional Healthcare files cap-subject petitions or uses cap-exempt status through affiliated nonprofit or government hospital designations.
Use Migrate Mate to Find Open RN Roles
Appalachian Regional Healthcare posts Registered Nurse openings across multiple facilities. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for roles at this employer that are open to visa sponsorship, so you're not applying blindly to positions that won't support your status.
Prepare Licensure Documentation for Multiple States
Appalachian Regional Healthcare operates across Kentucky and West Virginia. Confirm which state's RN license you'll need for your specific facility, and check whether Nurse Licensure Compact membership applies to your situation before your offer is finalized.

Does Appalachian Regional Healthcare sponsor H-1B visas for Registered Nurses?
Yes, Appalachian Regional Healthcare has sponsored H-1B visas for Registered Nurses. Registered Nursing qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS criteria, which is a prerequisite for H-1B eligibility. Sponsorship depends on the specific role, facility need, and timing relative to the annual H-1B cap filing window each April.
How do I apply for Registered Nurse jobs at Appalachian Regional Healthcare?
You can browse open Registered Nurse positions at Appalachian Regional Healthcare through Migrate Mate, which filters for roles open to visa sponsorship. When applying, confirm with the recruiter early that the position supports your intended visa pathway, since not every posting is approved for international sponsorship even at employers with a sponsorship history.
Which visa types does Appalachian Regional Healthcare use for Registered Nurses?
Appalachian Regional Healthcare sponsors both H-1B nonimmigrant visas and employment-based immigrant visas, primarily EB-2 and EB-3, for Registered Nurses. The H-1B is common for initial work authorization, while EB-3 is the standard Green Card pathway for nursing roles since the position meets the criteria for skilled worker classification under USCIS policy.
What qualifications does Appalachian Regional Healthcare expect from Registered Nurse candidates?
Candidates need an active RN license in the state where the facility is located, typically Kentucky or West Virginia. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred for most roles, though associate degree nurses may qualify for certain positions. International applicants should have credentials evaluated through CGFNS and hold or be eligible for NCLEX certification before applying.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Registered Nurse position?
For H-1B sponsorship, the employer files in April and work can begin October 1 if selected in the lottery. For an EB-3 Green Card through PERM, the full process from DOL labor certification through USCIS approval and visa issuance can take several years depending on your country of birth and the current priority date backlog.
