Does BayCare Health System sponsor H-1B visas for Medical Doctors?
Yes, BayCare Health System sponsors H-1B visas for Medical Doctor roles. As a hospital system, BayCare may qualify as a cap-exempt employer for H-1B purposes, which means eligible physicians could bypass the annual lottery. Confirm cap-exempt status directly with BayCare's physician recruitment team during the offer stage, since this affects your filing timeline significantly.
How do I apply for Medical Doctor jobs at BayCare Health System?
You can find and filter Medical Doctor openings at BayCare Health System by visa sponsorship type on Migrate Mate, which makes it easier to identify roles that match your immigration situation. Once you've identified a position, apply directly through BayCare's careers portal. Having your ECFMG certification, Florida medical license, and board certification documentation ready will speed up the credentialing review.
Which visa types does BayCare Health System commonly use to sponsor Medical Doctors?
BayCare sponsors H-1B, J-1, TN, and F-1 OPT visas for physician roles, and also supports Green Card pathways through EB-2 and EB-3 classifications. TN visas apply to Canadian and Mexican physicians. J-1 sponsorship is typically tied to residency or fellowship programs, while H-1B is the most common route for attending physician employment.
What qualifications does BayCare Health System expect from international Medical Doctors?
BayCare requires ECFMG certification for international medical graduates, along with completion of a U.S.-accredited residency program in your specialty. An active Florida medical license or eligibility for one is required before your start date. Board certification or eligibility is expected for most attending roles, and some specialties require fellowship training on top of residency.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Medical Doctor role at BayCare?
Timelines vary by visa type. H-1B standard processing through USCIS takes three to six months from filing, though cap-exempt hospital employers can file year-round. If BayCare initiates Green Card sponsorship through PERM, the full process from labor certification through USCIS approval typically takes two to four years, depending on your country of birth and visa backlog.
