Frame your portfolio around project delivery
DLR Group Development Manager roles emphasize owner-side delivery across design and construction phases. Before applying, document specific projects where you managed scope, schedule, and stakeholder alignment, not just design coordination or advisory work.
Target postings that list TN-eligible occupations
If you're Canadian or Mexican, Development Manager roles in construction and real estate can qualify under TN status as an Engineer or Management Consultant. Confirm the job description references a qualifying occupational category before assuming TN applies.
Align your credential evaluation to U.S. standards early
If your architecture or construction management degree is from outside the U.S., get a credential evaluation from a NACES-member organization before interviews. DLR Group's H-1B petitions require USCIS to confirm your degree supports a specialty occupation determination.
Use Migrate Mate to surface active Development Manager openings
DLR Group posts Development Manager roles across multiple studio locations. Use Migrate Mate to filter active openings by visa sponsorship eligibility so you're applying to positions where your status is already a fit, not discovering mismatches after an offer.
Raise sponsorship early in the recruiter conversation
DLR Group's HR teams handle H-1B filings through established legal counsel. Mentioning your visa status in the first recruiter call, not after an offer, allows them to confirm whether the specific office has current cap-subject or cap-exempt capacity before investing time on both sides.
Understand the H-1B timeline relative to your OPT expiration
If you're on F-1 OPT, map your expiration date against the April H-1B filing window and the October 1 start date. If your OPT expires before October 1, ask your employer to file for a cap-gap extension through USCIS to maintain work authorization during the gap.

Find Development Manager at DLR Group JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does DLR Group sponsor H-1B visas for Development Managers?
Yes, DLR Group sponsors H-1B visas for Development Manager roles. The company works with immigration counsel to file petitions for qualifying candidates in this function. Because H-1B sponsorship involves USCIS review of specialty occupation status, your degree and role responsibilities need to align, typically in architecture, engineering, construction management, or real estate development.
How do I apply for Development Manager jobs at DLR Group?
Applications go through DLR Group's careers page, where roles are listed by studio location and practice area. You can also find and filter sponsorship-eligible Development Manager openings at DLR Group through Migrate Mate. Before applying, confirm your visa status is supported for the specific position, since sponsorship eligibility can vary by office and project pipeline.
Which visa types does DLR Group commonly use for Development Manager roles?
DLR Group sponsors H-1B visas for full-time Development Manager hires and supports F-1 OPT and CPT for candidates earlier in their career or transitioning from graduate programs. TN status is also used for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying occupational categories. The right visa type depends on your citizenship, degree, and current immigration status.
What qualifications are expected for Development Manager roles at DLR Group?
Most Development Manager positions at DLR Group require a bachelor's degree or higher in architecture, engineering, construction management, or a related field. Relevant experience managing owner-side project delivery, including budget oversight, contractor coordination, and design team management, is typically required. Advanced degrees or PMP, AIA, or real estate credentials can strengthen your candidacy for senior-level openings.
How do I time my application if I'm on F-1 OPT and targeting DLR Group?
If your OPT authorization is active, you can begin work while your employer files an H-1B petition during the April registration window. STEM OPT extensions give eligible candidates up to 36 months of total OPT, providing additional runway. Apply to DLR Group well before your OPT expires so there's enough lead time for USCIS processing and, if selected, a timely H-1B start.
