Target research and faculty adjacent roles
University of Rochester's E-3 sponsorship activity concentrates in research-heavy departments and professional staff roles supporting academic programs. Focus your search on postdoctoral positions, research scientists, and specialized administrative functions where a bachelor's degree requirement is explicit in the posting.
Confirm specialty occupation status early
USCIS requires your role to qualify as a specialty occupation before filing begins. Use O*NET to verify your target job title carries a Job Zone of 4 or 5 and requires a specific degree field, not just any bachelor's degree.
Request an LCA before signing your offer
Your employer files the Labor Condition Application with DOL before your E-3 petition can proceed. Ask University of Rochester's international office whether the LCA is already initiated, since delays there directly push back your start date.
Verify your prevailing wage compliance
The LCA must certify your offered salary meets the prevailing wage for your role and location in Rochester, NY. Cross-check the OFLC Wage Search using your specific Standard Occupational Classification code before accepting an offer to catch any underpayment risk.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified E-3 postings
Searching generically misses roles where E-3 sponsorship is already established. Migrate Mate surfaces University of Rochester job listings filtered by verified DOL Labor Condition Application history, so you're applying where the filing infrastructure actually exists.
Prepare your degree equivalency documentation
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees are generally accepted for E-3 purposes, but University of Rochester's HR team may request a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved evaluator if your qualification isn't immediately recognizable to U.S. reviewers. Have this ready before the offer stage.

How do I start the E-3 application process at University of Rochester?
Once you have a written job offer, University of Rochester's International Services Office coordinates the Labor Condition Application filing with DOL. After LCA certification, you apply directly at a U.S. consulate in Australia with your certified LCA, DS-160, and supporting credentials. You don't need USCIS to approve a petition first, which shortens the overall timeline significantly.
How long does E-3 sponsorship take at University of Rochester?
LCA certification through DOL typically takes around seven business days. Consular appointment availability in Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth then determines the remaining timeline, which can range from a few weeks to a couple of months depending on scheduling backlogs. How do I find E-3 jobs at University of Rochester as an Australian applicant?
Start by searching University of Rochester's careers portal and filtering for roles that list a specific degree requirement in the job description, since that signals potential specialty occupation eligibility. Migrate Mate lets you search University of Rochester listings with verified E-3 LCA filing history, helping you prioritize applications where sponsorship infrastructure is already in place.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 sponsorship at University of Rochester?
E-3 employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, determined when they file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, ensuring Australian hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
