Align your credentials to NICET or PE standards
Jensen Hughes consults on life safety and fire protection projects where professional licensure matters. Documenting progress toward a Professional Engineer license or NICET certification signals you meet the technical bar their clients expect from consulting engineers.
Target project-facing engineering roles first
Jensen Hughes staffs engineers on client-site consulting engagements, not internal R&D. Roles tied to deliverables like code compliance reviews or risk assessments tend to drive the clearest specialty occupation case, which strengthens an H-1B petition significantly.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Jensen Hughes engineering openings
Jensen Hughes posts engineering roles across multiple disciplines and regions simultaneously. Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for Jensen Hughes positions where visa sponsorship is confirmed, saving you from applying to roles that won't support your immigration pathway.
Confirm the LCA wage tier matches your experience level
DOL requires Jensen Hughes to certify a prevailing wage on your Labor Condition Application before your H-1B can be filed. Entry-level and experienced engineer roles sit at different wage tiers, so verify the posted role aligns with your actual experience to avoid a mismatch.
Request written confirmation of sponsorship intent early
Consulting firms sometimes distinguish between sponsoring a new H-1B cap-subject petition and transferring an existing one. Before accepting an offer, confirm in writing whether Jensen Hughes will file a new petition or rely on a cap-exempt transfer strategy.

Find Engineering at Jensen Hughes JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Jensen Hughes sponsor H-1B visas for Engineering roles?
Yes, Jensen Hughes has sponsored H-1B visas for engineering positions. The firm's consulting work in fire protection, structural safety, and risk engineering typically qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, which is the foundation of a successful H-1B petition. Confirming sponsorship intent with your recruiter before the offer stage is advisable.
How do I apply for Engineering jobs at Jensen Hughes?
Applications go through Jensen Hughes's careers portal. To find roles that explicitly support visa sponsorship, browse Jensen Hughes listings on Migrate Mate, which filters for confirmed sponsoring employers. Tailor your resume to the consulting context by emphasizing project delivery, applicable codes, and any licensure progress rather than academic coursework alone.
Which visa types does Jensen Hughes commonly use for Engineering hires?
Jensen Hughes has worked with H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and J-1 visa categories for engineering talent. F-1 OPT and CPT are common entry points for recent graduates, while the H-1B is the standard longer-term work authorization. Canadian and Mexican engineers may also pursue the TN visa, which has no lottery and no annual cap.
What qualifications does Jensen Hughes expect from Engineering candidates?
Jensen Hughes engineering roles typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline such as fire protection, civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering. Consulting experience, familiarity with NFPA codes, and progress toward Professional Engineer licensure are recurring expectations. Specialty practice areas like forensic engineering or explosion protection may require additional technical credentials.
How do I time my application around H-1B filing deadlines?
USCIS opens H-1B registrations each March for an April 1 start date. To be included in that cycle, you'll need an accepted offer and a filed registration by late March. Starting your job search at Jensen Hughes six to nine months before that window gives enough time for interviews, offer negotiation, and LCA certification with the DOL before registration opens.
