Align Your Resume to Construction Cost Systems
Jobot places Estimators across commercial, industrial, and specialty trades. Tailor your resume to show proficiency in tools like Bluebeam, Sage Estimating, or RSMeans before applying, so recruiters can quickly match you to active client openings.
Clarify TN Eligibility Before Your First Call
TN status for Estimators can be tricky since the category requires fitting a recognized USMCA occupation. Confirm with an immigration attorney that your role qualifies under 'Engineer' before Jobot's recruiter submits your profile to a client.
Ask Recruiters Which Clients Actively Use E-Verify
As a staffing firm, Jobot places you with end clients who may have their own E-Verify requirements. Ask upfront which client sites are federal contractors, since those placements carry mandatory E-Verify compliance that affects your onboarding timeline.
Time Your Application Around Jobot's Active Job Volume
Jobot typically carries a high volume of open Estimator requisitions at any given time. Applying when multiple roles are posted in your specialty increases the chance a recruiter can submit you to several clients simultaneously, shortening your time to an offer.
Confirm Cap-Gap Coverage if Your OPT Is Expiring
If you're on F-1 OPT and Jobot files an H-1B petition on your behalf before April 1, cap-gap protection from USCIS automatically extends your work authorization through September 30, letting you stay employed through the transition without a gap.
Use Migrate Mate to Target Verified Sponsoring Estimator Roles
Before reaching out to Jobot recruiters cold, search Migrate Mate to identify current Estimator openings where visa sponsorship is confirmed, so you enter the recruiter conversation already knowing the role is a viable fit for your immigration status.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Jobot sponsor H-1B visas for Estimators?
Yes, Jobot has sponsored H-1B visas for Estimator roles. Because Jobot operates as a staffing firm, the sponsoring entity is Jobot itself rather than the end client, which means the H-1B petition and employer-employee relationship sit with Jobot. You'll want to confirm this structure with the recruiter early, since it affects how your LCA is filed with DOL and how your worksite is listed.
How do I apply for Estimator jobs at Jobot?
You can apply directly through Jobot's website or find their verified sponsoring openings on Migrate Mate, which filters for roles where visa sponsorship is confirmed. Once you apply, a Jobot recruiter typically reaches out within a few business days to screen your background, assess fit for active client roles, and discuss your visa situation before any client submission.
Which visa types does Jobot commonly use for Estimator roles?
Jobot has sponsored H-1B and F-1 OPT for Estimators, and TN is also a pathway for Canadian and Mexican nationals whose role qualifies under a recognized USMCA occupation category. H-1B is the most common long-term option. F-1 OPT works for recent graduates in engineering or construction management fields, and TN can be filed at the border without USCIS adjudication, making it faster for eligible applicants.
What qualifications does Jobot expect for sponsored Estimator positions?
Most Estimator roles Jobot places require demonstrated experience reading construction drawings, performing quantity takeoffs, and using estimating software such as Bluebeam or ProEst. A bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field strengthens your H-1B petition by supporting the specialty occupation classification. Jobot also places experienced Estimators without four-year degrees, but those candidates typically rely on TN or OPT rather than H-1B.
How do I handle the timing between a Jobot offer and my visa filing?
Once Jobot extends an offer, the next step is filing a Labor Condition Application with DOL, which typically takes seven business days under standard processing. After LCA certification, Jobot can file the H-1B or TN paperwork. For H-1B, USCIS premium processing guarantees a decision within 15 business days. Build these timelines into your negotiation so your start date gives Jobot enough runway to complete the filings before you need to begin work.
