Align Your Credentials to ASME and ISO Standards
Johnson Controls quality teams work against ASME, ISO 9001, and industry-specific inspection standards. Document your hands-on experience with these frameworks before applying, as your resume needs to reflect the exact technical language their hiring managers screen for.
Target Facilities With Active Manufacturing Operations
Johnson Controls operates HVAC, fire, and security manufacturing sites across the U.S. Quality Inspector openings cluster around production-heavy locations. Filter your job search by facility type, not just job title, to reach roles where inspection headcount is highest.
Confirm Your Visa Type Before Accepting an Offer
Johnson Controls sponsors multiple visa categories for this function. Before offer acceptance, clarify in writing which category your role falls under and whether OPT STEM extension is supported if you're on F-1, since the USCIS 60-day grace period leaves little room for error if sponsorship falls through.
Prepare Documentation for a Specialty Occupation Argument
H-1B eligibility for Quality Inspector roles requires demonstrating specialty occupation status under USCIS standards. Gather degree transcripts, job description language tying your role to a specific technical field, and any professional certifications like CQI or CMM to support your employer's petition.
Use Migrate Mate to Surface Open Roles Actively Sponsoring
Browse Quality Inspector listings at Johnson Controls on Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for visa-sponsoring employers so you're not spending time on roles that won't support your work authorization.
Track PERM Timing If You're Pursuing a Green Card Path
EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship through PERM requires your employer to run DOL-supervised recruitment before filing. For manufacturing inspection roles, the PERM process typically begins after you've established tenure, so align your long-term authorization planning with your employment timeline from the start.

Find Quality Inspector at Johnson Controls JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Johnson Controls sponsor H-1B visas for Quality Inspectors?
Yes, Johnson Controls sponsors H-1B visas for Quality Inspector roles. The key requirement is that the position qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, meaning it requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific technical field. Roles tied to precision metrology, quality engineering systems, or regulated manufacturing environments tend to meet this threshold more clearly than general inspection positions.
Which visa types are commonly used for Quality Inspector roles at Johnson Controls?
Johnson Controls supports H-1B sponsorship for degree-holding candidates and F-1 OPT and CPT for students and recent graduates in engineering or manufacturing-adjacent programs. TN visas are available for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories. For longer-term pathways, Johnson Controls has also sponsored EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card petitions for quality and inspection professionals through the PERM labor certification process.
What qualifications and experience are expected for Quality Inspector roles at Johnson Controls?
Johnson Controls typically looks for candidates with a background in mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering combined with hands-on inspection experience using tools like calipers, CMMs, and gauging equipment. Familiarity with ISO 9001, ASME standards, and non-conformance reporting processes is common across their quality roles. Certifications such as Certified Quality Inspector from ASQ strengthen your profile, particularly if you're pursuing H-1B sponsorship and need to establish specialty occupation credentials.
How do I apply for Quality Inspector jobs at Johnson Controls?
You can find Quality Inspector openings at Johnson Controls on Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles from employers with active visa sponsorship histories so you can apply with confidence. When applying, tailor your resume to reference specific inspection standards, equipment, and quality systems used in HVAC, fire protection, or industrial manufacturing, since Johnson Controls operates across several distinct product lines with different technical requirements.
How long does the sponsorship and visa filing process take for a Quality Inspector at Johnson Controls?
For H-1B sponsorship, your employer must file during the annual cap registration window each March, with employment starting no earlier than October 1 if selected in the lottery. F-1 OPT and TN transitions can move faster, typically within 30 to 90 days depending on documentation. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship runs longer, often 18 months or more from initiation, so raising the topic early in your employment tenure is practical if that's your long-term goal.
