Frame your portfolio around creative programming
Michaels prioritizes candidates who can demonstrate hands-on event facilitation and workshop management experience. Before applying, document specific examples of customer-facing programming you've led, including attendance outcomes and repeat participation rates.
Confirm your visa category fits specialty occupation criteria
Experience Manager roles at retailers can face scrutiny from USCIS on specialty occupation grounds. Strengthen your case by ensuring your degree field aligns directly with retail management, operations, or a related discipline before your employer files the H-1B petition.
Target stores in high-volume hiring markets
Michaels posts Experience Manager openings most frequently in suburban markets with high craft-retail demand. Filtering your search geographically to those clusters increases your chances of landing an interview before a position is filled internally.
Use Migrate Mate to surface active openings
Michaels Experience Manager roles don't always stay posted long. Search Migrate Mate to find current openings filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility so you're applying to positions where sponsorship is already part of the employer's hiring plan.
Negotiate start date around LCA processing timelines
Your employer must file a certified Labor Condition Application with the DOL before submitting your H-1B petition. Build at least two to four weeks of LCA processing time into your expected start date conversation so neither side is caught off guard.
Prepare for OPT-to-H-1B transition before cap season
If you're on F-1 OPT, Michaels can employ you through your authorized period, but H-1B cap registration opens each March for an October 1 start. Confirm your employer's intent to sponsor before your OPT expiration date to avoid a gap in work authorization.

Find Experience Manager at Michaels Stores JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Michaels Stores sponsor H-1B visas for Experience Managers?
Yes, Michaels Stores has an active history of sponsoring H-1B visas for Experience Manager roles. Sponsorship is not automatic with every offer, so you'll want to confirm it explicitly during the offer stage. Your employer files the H-1B petition with USCIS on your behalf, and the role must qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS criteria.
How do I apply for Experience Manager jobs at Michaels Stores?
Applications go through Michaels' careers portal, where Experience Manager openings are listed by location. To find roles where visa sponsorship is part of the hiring plan, browse Migrate Mate, which filters Michaels postings specifically for international candidates. Tailoring your application to highlight in-store event management and customer engagement programming improves your fit for this role.
Which visa types does Michaels Stores commonly use for Experience Manager roles?
Michaels sponsors H-1B visas for candidates in specialty occupation roles, and also works with F-1 OPT and CPT for students in eligible programs. TN visas are available for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying management or professional categories. For longer-term sponsorship, Michaels has also filed EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card petitions through the PERM labor certification process with the DOL.
What qualifications does Michaels Stores expect for Experience Manager candidates?
Michaels typically looks for candidates with a background in retail management, event coordination, or arts-and-crafts programming. A bachelor's degree in business, education, marketing, or a related field strengthens your H-1B specialty occupation case. Hands-on experience running customer workshops, managing part-time staff, and driving repeat program attendance is weighted heavily for this specific role.
How do I understand the visa sponsorship timeline for an Experience Manager offer at Michaels?
If you're pursuing an H-1B, your employer must file by the April deadline for an October 1 start, which means offer and LCA preparation needs to begin by late February or early March at the latest. For F-1 OPT candidates, Michaels can employ you immediately within your authorized period, but USCIS H-1B cap registration timing still governs when full sponsorship kicks in.
