Gather credential evaluations before applying
For H-1B sponsorship, ORU's HR team will need to confirm your degree meets specialty occupation standards. Get a foreign credential evaluation from a NACES-approved agency before you apply so nothing stalls the petition.
Target departments with active instructor openings
ORU posts instructor roles across theology, business, nursing, and liberal arts. Search by academic department rather than job title alone, since openings are distributed across colleges and not always grouped under a single listing.
Understand how TN status applies to instructors
Canadian and Mexican nationals teaching at accredited U.S. universities often qualify under the TN 'College, University, or Seminary Teacher' category. Confirm your role description aligns with that classification when reviewing your offer letter with ORU's HR.
Ask HR directly about their H-1B filing timeline
H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start. Ask ORU's HR or international office what their internal deadline is for assembling your petition, since universities often need six to eight weeks of lead time.
Browse open instructor roles on Migrate Mate
Filter for education-sector employers with confirmed H-1B sponsorship history on Migrate Mate. It surfaces ORU instructor openings alongside the university's documented sponsorship activity, so you can apply with confidence rather than guessing at their policies.

Find Instructor at Oral Roberts University JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Oral Roberts University sponsor H-1B visas for Instructors?
Yes. Oral Roberts University sponsors H-1B visas for instructor positions, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field. The university's international HR team manages the petition process, which includes filing a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before submitting Form I-129 to USCIS.
How do I apply for Instructor jobs at Oral Roberts University?
Applications are submitted through ORU's official careers portal. Search by role type or academic department, since instructor openings are spread across colleges. Tailor your CV to reflect both subject-matter expertise and any faith-integrated teaching experience, as ORU's mission shapes how they evaluate candidates. You can also browse current openings filtered by sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate.
Which visa types does Oral Roberts University commonly use for Instructor roles?
ORU sponsors H-1B visas for instructors in specialty occupation fields and supports F-1 students through OPT and CPT for qualifying teaching or research roles. Canadian and Mexican nationals may also be eligible for TN status under the 'College, University, or Seminary Teacher' category, which does not require an employer petition to USCIS and can be obtained at the port of entry.
What qualifications are expected for Instructor positions at Oral Roberts University?
Most instructor roles at ORU require at least a master's degree in the relevant discipline, and tenure-track or senior positions typically require a doctorate. Candidates should expect to demonstrate subject-matter expertise, prior teaching experience at the post-secondary level, and alignment with ORU's Christian liberal arts mission. For H-1B purposes, your degree must directly relate to the duties of the specific role.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for an ORU instructor hire?
For H-1B sponsorship, plan for a minimum of three to four months from offer acceptance to petition filing, accounting for the DOL's Labor Condition Application processing window and ORU's internal preparation timeline. Cap-subject H-1B petitions are only accepted in April for an October start date, so timing your offer relative to the annual cap cycle is critical to avoid a year-long wait.
