Align Your CPA Credentials Early
Piper Sandler expects accounting candidates to hold or be actively pursuing CPA licensure. Before applying, verify your foreign degree equivalency through a NACES-approved evaluation service so your credentials are ready to present when asked.
Target Roles Tied to Regulated Functions
Accounting positions linked to SEC reporting, fund accounting, or broker-dealer compliance carry stronger sponsorship justification because the specialty occupation standard is easier to satisfy with a clearly degree-dependent regulatory role.
Research Piper Sandler's DOL Filing History
Search the DOL OFLC disclosure data for Piper Sandler LCA filings to identify which accounting job titles and office locations the firm has historically supported. This tells you exactly how to frame your target role.
Build Your Application Around Technical Accounting Skills
Investment bank accounting roles require proficiency in consolidation, derivatives accounting, or broker-dealer net capital rules. Positioning these skills front and center strengthens the specialty occupation argument your employer will need to make to USCIS.
Clarify Sponsorship Intentions During Offer Negotiations
Piper Sandler's HR team handles sponsorship decisions at the offer stage. Confirm whether they will file an H-1B petition directly or through outside counsel, and ask about their timeline relative to the April 1 USCIS registration window.
Use Migrate Mate to Find Open Accountant Roles
Filter for Piper Sandler's accounting openings that are flagged for H-1B sponsorship using Migrate Mate, so you're only investing time in applications where the firm has demonstrated a willingness to sponsor candidates in this function.

Find Accountant at Piper Sandler JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Piper Sandler sponsor H-1B visas for Accountants?
Yes, Piper Sandler has sponsored H-1B visas for accounting professionals. Sponsorship is typically reserved for roles that meet USCIS's specialty occupation standard, meaning the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in accounting or a directly related field. Roles tied to SEC reporting, broker-dealer compliance, or fund accounting tend to have the clearest eligibility path.
How do I apply for Accountant jobs at Piper Sandler?
You can search for open accounting positions directly on Piper Sandler's careers page or browse listings filtered by sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate. When applying, tailor your resume to highlight technical accounting competencies relevant to investment banking, such as regulatory capital, financial statement consolidation, or derivatives valuation, and be upfront about your visa status early in the process.
Which visa types are commonly used for Accountant roles at Piper Sandler?
The H-1B is the primary visa category used for accounting professionals at firms like Piper Sandler. If you're already in the U.S. on OPT or STEM OPT, that can bridge you through the H-1B lottery cycle. Candidates from Australia may also explore the E-3 visa, and those from Canada or Mexico may qualify under the TN visa for accountants.
What qualifications does Piper Sandler expect for Accountant roles?
Piper Sandler generally expects a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance at minimum, with CPA licensure or active candidacy strongly preferred for most roles. Experience with financial services accounting, particularly broker-dealer or investment management environments, is a significant differentiator. Familiarity with U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements is commonly required across their accounting functions.
How do I navigate the H-1B sponsorship timeline when targeting Piper Sandler?
The H-1B process requires your employer to file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before submitting a petition to USCIS. Registration opens in March, the lottery runs in late March, and approved petitions take effect October 1. If you're on OPT, confirm your expiration date against this timeline and discuss cap-gap protection with your employer's immigration counsel if there's any overlap.
