Tailor your resume to AI infrastructure roles
Scale AI's Software Engineer openings consistently prioritize experience with data pipelines, labeling infrastructure, and ML platform tooling. Align your resume language to those systems before applying, not after you hear back.
Clarify LCA timing with your recruiting contact
Scale AI must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before your H-1B petition can move forward. Ask your recruiter early whether they use a set start date cycle or file on a rolling basis so your offer timeline aligns.
Use Migrate Mate to filter verified Scale AI openings
Not every Software Engineer posting at Scale AI is open to visa sponsorship. Use Migrate Mate to surface only the roles where Scale AI has an active sponsorship track record, so you're not applying blind.
Prepare for technical screens that test distributed systems depth
Scale AI's engineering interviews typically assess systems design and large-scale data processing, not just algorithms. Gaps in distributed systems fundamentals are a common reason strong candidates don't advance past the technical round.

Find Software Engineer at Scale AI JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Scale AI sponsor H-1B visas for Software Engineers?
Yes, Scale AI sponsors H-1B visas for Software Engineer roles. Because H-1B cap-subject petitions go through the USCIS lottery each April, your offer timing needs to align with that annual cycle. Scale AI also sponsors the E-3 visa for Australian citizens, which bypasses the lottery and can be a faster path for eligible candidates.
How do I apply for Software Engineer jobs at Scale AI?
Applications go through Scale AI's careers page, where Software Engineer roles are listed by team and level. Before applying, review the job description carefully to confirm it aligns with your background in areas like data infrastructure, ML tooling, or backend systems. Migrate Mate also lets you browse Scale AI's active Software Engineer openings filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility, so you can prioritize the right roles from the start.
Which visa types does Scale AI sponsor for Software Engineer roles?
Scale AI sponsors several visa categories for Software Engineers, including H-1B, E-3 for Australian citizens, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, F-1 OPT and CPT for students, J-1, and Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3. The right visa type depends on your nationality, current status, and career stage, so it's worth understanding your options before the offer conversation.
What qualifications does Scale AI look for in Software Engineer candidates?
Scale AI's Software Engineer roles typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field, which also satisfies the specialty occupation requirement for H-1B and E-3 sponsorship. Beyond credentials, the hiring bar emphasizes hands-on experience with large-scale systems, data pipelines, or ML infrastructure. Candidates without direct AI or data platform experience often struggle to advance past technical screens.
How do I understand the visa filing timeline once I have a Scale AI offer?
Timeline depends on your visa type. H-1B petitions must be filed in April for an October 1 start, so offers extended in late spring or summer often have a built-in wait. E-3 and TN visas move faster and aren't tied to that cycle. Once Scale AI's legal team initiates your petition, USCIS standard processing takes several months, though premium processing can reduce that to around 15 business days.
