Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Sales Business Development Jobs at Smartsheet Jobs
Frame Your SaaS Sales Credentials Precisely
Smartsheet looks for demonstrated experience with complex B2B sales cycles and enterprise account management. Before applying, align your resume language to SaaS-specific metrics like ARR, pipeline generation, and CRM proficiency to pass initial screening for sponsored roles.
Target Roles Tied to Strategic Verticals
Smartsheet's Business Development team is organized around industry verticals such as financial services, healthcare, and government. Applying to a vertical where you have domain knowledge strengthens your case and signals to hiring managers that sponsorship investment is justified.
Time Your Application Around OPT Cap-Gap Eligibility
If you're on F-1 OPT and your EAD expires before an H-1B approval, the cap-gap rule extends your work authorization through September 30 of that year. Starting your job search at Smartsheet at least six months before OPT expiry gives you enough runway to reach an offer and lottery registration.
Clarify LCA Filing Before Negotiating Compensation
For H-1B and H-1B1 roles, DOL requires Smartsheet to file a Labor Condition Application certifying your offered wage meets the prevailing wage for the role and location. Understand that your starting salary is constrained by this floor, not just internal pay bands, before entering offer discussions.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Verified Sponsoring Employers
Finding Sales Business Development roles at companies with a genuine sponsorship history takes more than a keyword search. Use Migrate Mate to browse verified sponsoring employers in the technology and software sector and surface open roles at Smartsheet alongside comparable sponsors.
Align Your Start Date to H-1B Cap Filing Windows
H-1B registrations open each March for an October 1 start date. If you receive an offer from Smartsheet outside that window, negotiate a start date that lands on or after October 1 so your petition can be filed during the next registration cycle without delaying your employment.

Find Sales Business Development at Smartsheet JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Smartsheet sponsor H-1B visas for Sales Business Developments?
Yes, Smartsheet sponsors H-1B visas for Sales Business Development roles. The company has a consistent track record of filing H-1B petitions for this function, which is treated as a specialty occupation given the technical complexity of selling work management software into enterprise accounts. Your offer letter and the USCIS petition must both reflect the specific role and its requirements.
Which visa types are commonly used for Sales Business Development roles at Smartsheet?
H-1B is the most common work visa used for Sales Business Development positions at Smartsheet. F-1 OPT and STEM OPT extensions are viable for recent graduates entering the sales pipeline. TN status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying occupations. For longer-term employment, Smartsheet has also supported EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship for employees in this function.
What qualifications and experience does Smartsheet expect for Sales Business Development roles?
Smartsheet typically expects candidates to have a bachelor's degree in business, communications, or a related field alongside demonstrated experience in B2B or SaaS sales environments. Familiarity with enterprise sales cycles, CRM platforms, and pipeline management is prioritized. For senior roles, proven quota attainment and experience managing relationships with mid-market or enterprise accounts carries significant weight in the hiring process.
How do I apply for Sales Business Development jobs at Smartsheet?
Applications go through Smartsheet's careers portal, where Sales Business Development openings are listed by team and region. You can also find and filter open roles at Smartsheet with confirmed sponsorship history through Migrate Mate, which surfaces positions alongside verified visa filing data. Tailor your application to the specific vertical or segment the role targets and be upfront about your visa status in recruiter conversations to avoid delays later in the process.
How do I plan my timeline if I need H-1B sponsorship at Smartsheet?
H-1B registrations run each March for an October 1 start date, so you need a confirmed offer before USCIS opens the registration window. If you're on F-1 OPT, start your job search at least six months before your EAD expires to leave room for recruiting, onboarding paperwork, and the registration period. Premium processing is available through USCIS and can reduce adjudication time significantly if your start date is time-sensitive.
