Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Business Development Jobs at Smartsheet Jobs
Frame your credentials around enterprise SaaS sales
Smartsheet's Business Development roles center on pipeline generation and partner ecosystems in the SaaS space. Before applying, tailor your resume to show measurable outcomes in B2B sales cycles, not just activity metrics. Quota attainment and deal size matter here.
Target roles that align with your visa category
TN and H-1B eligibility both require a qualifying specialty occupation. For Business Development, your degree field matters. A background in business, marketing, or management typically supports the specialty occupation argument that USCIS and DOL require for work authorization.
Browse open roles before your OPT clock pressures you
F-1 OPT gives you 60 days to find a new role if you leave a position. Use Migrate Mate to filter Business Development openings at Smartsheet by visa type so you're targeting confirmed sponsors, not guessing, before that window closes.
Ask about LCA timing during the offer stage
Before your start date is set, confirm your hiring manager has looped in HR on the Labor Condition Application filing. The LCA must be certified by DOL before USCIS can process your H-1B petition, and delays here can push back your start date by weeks.
Highlight cross-functional experience in your application
Smartsheet's BD function typically works closely with product, marketing, and customer success teams. Demonstrating that you've collaborated across departments in a SaaS environment makes your profile more competitive and signals you can operate in their go-to-market structure.
Verify your employer's E-Verify enrollment before signing
F-1 OPT holders can only work for employers enrolled in E-Verify. Confirm Smartsheet's enrollment status through the official E-Verify employer search before accepting an offer to avoid authorization complications on your first day.

Does Smartsheet sponsor H-1B visas for Business Developments?
Yes, Smartsheet sponsors H-1B visas for Business Development roles. The company has a documented pattern of sponsoring international professionals across business-facing functions, including roles that require specialty occupation qualifications in fields like business administration or marketing. You'll need a qualifying degree and a job offer in place before the H-1B petition process can begin with USCIS.
How do I apply for Business Development jobs at Smartsheet?
Applications go through Smartsheet's careers portal, where Business Development roles are listed by team and region. To filter specifically for roles open to visa sponsorship, use Migrate Mate, which surfaces Smartsheet's open Business Development positions alongside sponsorship history so you can prioritize applications that match your visa situation before reaching out to the recruiting team.
Which visa types does Smartsheet commonly use for Business Development roles?
Smartsheet supports several visa categories for Business Development hires, including H-1B, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, F-1 OPT for recent graduates, and EB-2 or EB-3 for employees pursuing permanent residence. The right category depends on your nationality, degree field, and career stage. TN is often the fastest path for eligible Canadians and Mexicans in business roles.
What qualifications does Smartsheet expect for Business Development roles?
Smartsheet's Business Development positions typically require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, along with demonstrated experience in B2B sales, partnership development, or account management within a SaaS or technology environment. Familiarity with CRM tools and a track record of hitting pipeline targets are frequently referenced in their job postings for this function.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Smartsheet Business Development role?
Timeline depends on your visa type. H-1B sponsorship through USCIS standard processing can take three to five months after the April lottery selection, or two to three weeks with premium processing. TN status for Canadians can be approved at the border in a single day. F-1 OPT authorization is handled through your university's DSO before your job starts, independent of USCIS filing timelines.
