Align your portfolio to Snowflake's data stack
Snowflake prioritizes engineers with hands-on experience in their own platform, dbt, and orchestration tools like Airflow. Before applying, build projects that demonstrate Snowpark, dynamic tables, or LLM-integrated pipelines using Snowflake's native AI features.
Target Snowflake's enterprise data products teams
AI Data Engineer openings at Snowflake cluster around product areas like Cortex AI and Data Cloud infrastructure. Filtering by team or product line in your application lets you tailor your resume to the specific technical context, which meaningfully improves recruiter response rates.
Confirm your visa type matches the role's filing timeline
H-1B cap-subject candidates face the April lottery, which can delay a start date by up to a year. If you're on F-1 OPT with STEM extension eligibility, flag that to your Snowflake recruiter early so the team can plan around your available work authorization window.
Prepare specialty occupation documentation before the offer stage
USCIS requires that H-1B petitions demonstrate the role requires a specific bachelor's degree or higher. For AI Data Engineer positions, gather transcripts, degree equivalency evaluations if your credential is foreign, and a written breakdown of how your coursework maps to the role's technical requirements.
Browse open AI Data Engineer roles on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters Snowflake's current AI Data Engineer postings by visa sponsorship type, so you can identify openings where your specific status, whether H-1B, TN, or OPT, is already supported before investing time in the application.
Understand how TN status works for this role
Canadian and Mexican nationals can enter under TN status for computer systems analyst roles without waiting for a lottery. Verify with your immigration attorney that an AI Data Engineer position at Snowflake fits a recognized TN occupation category before accepting an offer structured around that status.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Snowflake sponsor H-1B visas for AI Data Engineers?
Yes, Snowflake sponsors H-1B visas for AI Data Engineer roles. The company files petitions through the standard USCIS cap process, including the April lottery for cap-subject candidates, and also supports H-1B transfers for engineers already holding valid H-1B status. If you're cap-subject, discuss timing with your recruiter early, since lottery selection affects your potential start date.
Which visa types are commonly used for AI Data Engineer roles at Snowflake?
Snowflake supports several visa categories for this function, including H-1B, F-1 OPT with STEM extension, TN visa for Canadian and Mexican nationals, J-1 visa, and employment-based Green Card pathways such as EB-2 and EB-3. The right category depends on your nationality, current status, and how far along you are in the application process. F-1 OPT is common for recent graduates entering this role directly from U.S. universities.
How do I apply for AI Data Engineer jobs at Snowflake?
You can find current AI Data Engineer openings at Snowflake through their careers portal or through Migrate Mate, which surfaces Snowflake's visa-sponsored roles in one place. Tailor your application to highlight experience with Snowflake's platform, cloud data architecture, and AI or ML pipeline development. Include specific projects, tools, and outcomes rather than general descriptions of past responsibilities.
What qualifications does Snowflake expect for AI Data Engineer positions?
Snowflake typically looks for a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, data engineering, or a closely related field, combined with practical experience building and maintaining data pipelines in cloud environments. Proficiency in SQL, Python, and familiarity with Snowflake's own platform, including Snowpark and Cortex AI, is a strong differentiator. Roles at senior levels often require experience integrating LLMs or vector databases into production data workflows.
How do I time my application around H-1B sponsorship at Snowflake?
The H-1B cap lottery opens in March each year, with approved petitions taking effect October 1. If you want Snowflake to file on your behalf, you need an offer in place before March. USCIS premium processing can reduce adjudication to around 15 business days once a petition is filed. If you miss the cap year, F-1 OPT or a cap-exempt filing route may bridge the gap.
