Align your portfolio to cloud data use cases
Snowflake Solutions Architects are expected to demo, architect, and troubleshoot cloud data solutions hands-on. Build a portfolio with real Snowflake or comparable platform projects before applying. Proof of technical depth matters more than certifications alone.
Target enterprise and strategic account teams
Snowflake segments its Solutions Architect hiring by customer tier. Roles aligned to enterprise or strategic accounts tend to require deeper sponsorship infrastructure and carry more structured onboarding, which benefits candidates who need H-1B transfer or new cap-subject petitions.
Get your OPT STEM extension paperwork ready early
Snowflake hires F-1 OPT candidates for Solutions Architect roles, but the gap between an offer letter and your first H-1B lottery can span two years. Confirm your university qualifies for a 24-month STEM extension and have your I-983 training plan ready to discuss with HR.
Ask recruiters specifically about cap-exempt H-1B options
If you missed the H-1B lottery, ask Snowflake's recruiting team whether any open Solutions Architect roles are housed in cap-exempt entities. Some large technology companies route roles through affiliated research or nonprofit arms, which can allow off-cycle H-1B filings outside the annual cap.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Solutions Architect roles by visa type
Snowflake posts Solutions Architect openings across multiple teams and regions. Use Migrate Mate to filter roles by the visa types Snowflake sponsors, so you can focus your applications on positions where your status is a confirmed fit rather than an open question.
Prepare for PERM timing if you're targeting a Green Card
PERM labor certification through DOL typically takes 12 to 18 months before an I-140 petition can be filed. If a Green Card is your goal, raise the subject during the offer stage, not after you've started, so your employer can begin the process while your H-1B status remains current.

Find Solutions Architect at Snowflake JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Snowflake sponsor H-1B visas for Solutions Architects?
Yes, Snowflake sponsors H-1B visas for Solutions Architect roles. The company supports both new cap-subject petitions filed through the annual USCIS lottery and H-1B transfers for candidates who already hold an approved H-1B with another employer. If you're mid-status, a transfer lets you start once USCIS receives the petition, without waiting for approval.
How do I apply for Solutions Architect jobs at Snowflake?
You can browse open Solutions Architect positions directly on Snowflake's careers page or use Migrate Mate to filter roles by visa type so you only apply where your immigration status is a match. Snowflake's hiring process for Solutions Architects typically includes a recruiter screen, a technical pre-sales exercise, and a panel interview covering both architecture skills and customer-facing communication.
Which visa types does Snowflake commonly use for Solutions Architect roles?
Snowflake sponsors H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, J-1, and employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for Solutions Architects. F-1 candidates in computer science or engineering fields are well-positioned for OPT, and Canadian or Mexican nationals in technical roles often qualify for TN status, which can be processed at the border without USCIS filing.
What qualifications does Snowflake expect for Solutions Architect candidates?
Snowflake typically looks for a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, combined with hands-on experience in cloud data platforms, SQL, and enterprise pre-sales or technical consulting. For H-1B eligibility, your degree must directly correspond to the specialty occupation requirements USCIS applies to the role. Practical experience with data warehousing, ETL pipelines, or cloud architecture strengthens your case considerably.
How do I think about timing if I need Snowflake to sponsor my H-1B?
The H-1B cap-subject lottery opens in March each year, with approved petitions taking effect October 1. If Snowflake extends you an offer outside that window, you'll typically work on OPT or another interim status until the next lottery cycle. USCIS premium processing can reduce the approval wait to 15 business days once your petition is selected, so confirm with HR whether Snowflake opts into premium processing for Solutions Architect hires.
