ABOUT THE ROLE
ZS’s Data Strategy and Data Office has two pillars. First, we advise clients across sectors — including MedTech, Health, Travel & Hospitality, and other data-intensive industries — on all matters related to enterprise Data Strategy. As data volumes expand and AI reshapes business models, Data Strategy has become a critical, board-level priority. The team supports clients in defining data vision and mission, designing operating models and data organizations, establishing governance and stewardship frameworks, shaping data sourcing and generation strategies, enabling robust data architecture and cataloging capabilities, and driving compliant value creation. In close collaboration with our Digital and Technology practice, we diagnose and execute data strategies, helping clients build data capabilities and products that drive competitive advantage. The second pillar, Data Office, focuses on building and managing strategic relationships with a wide range of data providers to enable differentiated access to data and power innovative ZS offerings and services.
The Data Strategy Associate Consultant will be located close to one of our East Coast U.S. offices and will help deliver world-class solutions that shape and execute enterprise data strategies, primarily in the MedTech, Health Insurance, or Travel & Hospitality sectors. This includes developing data organizations and Data Offices, designing governance and operating models, strengthening AI-ready data foundations, driving data portfolio optimization and value realization, and leading hands-on delivery of data programs. This individual will have high visibility within the firm and will work collaboratively with the broader Data Strategy team across the Americas, Europe and India, as well as with colleagues across multiple practice areas (e.g., Research and Development Excellence, Digital Strategy, Technology Advisory, Compliance, and others).

- Contribute to the design and implementation of strategic data capabilities that strengthen how organizations manage, govern and use data to drive business value
- Own defined workstreams and analyses, supporting project leads in delivering objectives on time and within scope
- Partner with senior team members to support project planning, coordination, staffing and risk management activities
- Build working relationships with client stakeholders and support presentations related to project deliverables, brainstorming sessions, discussions and status updates
- Collaborate with an extended global team of diverse skill sets (knowledge management, data technologists, business operations, etc.) to deliver high-quality outputs
- Provide guidance to junior team members when appropriate
- Contribute to building long-term Data Strategy assets and offerings
- Support proposal development, client discussions and thought leadership efforts where data expertise is needed
- Contribute to developing perspectives on data strategy innovations to build firm intellectual capital and thought leadership

Align your degree to ZS client work
ZS's Consulting Analyst work spans pharma, biotech, and med-device clients. A degree in business analytics, life sciences, or applied math strengthens your specialty occupation case for H-1B sponsorship far more than a general management background would.
Target ZS's campus recruiting cycle early
ZS recruits Consulting Analysts heavily from target universities in the fall. Applying through on-campus channels before January puts you in the cohort most likely to receive an offer with enough lead time to file CPT authorization or begin OPT before your start date.
Clarify OPT start date with your recruiter
ZS's Consulting Analyst start dates typically cluster in late summer. If your OPT start date doesn't align with their cohort, surface this during offer negotiation. A short gap can sometimes be bridged with CPT for any pre-employment training components ZS builds into onboarding.
Prepare your LCA documentation before Day 1
For TN or H-1B candidates, ZS's HR team files a Labor Condition Application with DOL before your petition goes to USCIS. Confirm your job title and worksite location are finalized before signing your offer, since last-minute changes can delay LCA certification and push your start date.
Use Migrate Mate to identify open Consulting Analyst roles
Consulting Analyst openings at ZS span multiple offices and practice areas. Use Migrate Mate to filter roles by visa type and location so you're only applying to positions where your authorization is a match before you invest time in the application process.
Register for H-1B lottery before your OPT expires
USCIS opens H-1B registration in March each year, with an April 1 filing window for October 1 start dates. If your OPT expires before October 1, confirm with ZS's immigration team whether cap-gap protection applies to keep you in status through the transition.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does ZS sponsor H-1B visas for Consulting Analysts?
Yes, ZS sponsors H-1B visas for Consulting Analysts. The role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation given its requirement for a relevant bachelor's degree or higher in fields like business analytics, statistics, or life sciences. ZS works with immigration counsel to handle the filing, but you'll need to clear the annual H-1B lottery, which USCIS runs each March for an October 1 start.
How do I apply for Consulting Analyst jobs at ZS?
You can apply directly through ZS's careers portal or through Migrate Mate, which filters open Consulting Analyst roles by visa sponsorship eligibility. ZS recruits for this role through both on-campus programs and general applications. Campus recruiting moves faster with earlier deadlines, so if you're a current student, that channel is worth prioritizing over a general application submission.
Which visa types does ZS commonly use for Consulting Analyst roles?
ZS sponsors H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and TN visas for Consulting Analysts. F-1 students typically start on CPT or OPT, then transition to H-1B sponsorship. Canadian and Mexican nationals with qualifying degrees may be eligible for TN status, which doesn't require lottery selection and can be a faster path to authorized employment.
What qualifications does ZS expect for a Consulting Analyst role?
ZS looks for a bachelor's or master's degree in a quantitative or business-adjacent field, analytical problem-solving skills, and some exposure to life sciences or consulting through coursework or internships. Client-facing communication is weighted heavily in interviews. Candidates with pharma or biotech internship experience tend to advance further in the process, particularly for roles aligned to commercial or market access practices.
How do I time my Consulting Analyst application around my visa status?
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your authorization end date before accepting an offer and build in time for ZS's immigration team to prepare an H-1B petition if needed. USCIS requires H-1B petitions to be filed by April 1 for an October start. For TN candidates, status can be obtained at a port of entry with an offer letter and supporting credentials, which shortens the pre-start timeline considerably.
