Compliance Manager Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a compliance manager in New York?
Most compliance managers in New York begin with a bachelor's degree in business, law, finance, or a related discipline, then build several years of experience in a regulated environment such as banking, insurance, or healthcare. New York does not issue a state-specific compliance manager license, but the New York State Department of Financial Services and the New York State Department of Health each set compliance expectations that employers treat as de facto requirements. Earning a CCEP or CRCM credential significantly strengthens a candidate's profile for New York roles.
How much do compliance managers make in New York?
Compliance managers in New York earn a median of about $167,200 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $90,760 for the lowest 10% to over $305,970 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire compliance managers in New York?
Employers hiring compliance managers in New York right now include Amazon, EY, and Anthropic, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's concentration of NYDFS-regulated financial institutions and Joint Commission-accredited hospital systems means demand is consistent across both the financial services corridor in Manhattan and the healthcare networks in the outer boroughs and upstate regions.
Which New York cities have the most compliance manager jobs?
New York, Albany, and New York City have the most compliance manager openings in New York. New York City dominates because it hosts the headquarters and major U.S. offices of the country's largest banks, insurers, and asset managers, all subject to NYDFS oversight, while Albany draws openings tied to state government agencies and regulated utilities, and Buffalo's growing financial technology and healthcare sectors support steady demand.
Are there remote compliance manager jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than many fields, because compliance work is largely analytical, policy-driven, and documentation-based. About 29% of compliance manager openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the role's desk-based nature. The functions most commonly performed remotely include policy drafting, regulatory monitoring, training program development, and audit report preparation, while roles that require on-site examination, trading floor oversight, or direct inspection tend to remain in person.
How can I get hired as a compliance manager in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a compliance analyst or compliance associate role at a New York financial institution or hospital system, where structured rotational or development programs exist for candidates without direct compliance experience. Large New York employers including major NYDFS-regulated banks and health systems affiliated with the Greater New York Hospital Association routinely hire from adjacent roles such as paralegal, internal audit associate, risk analyst, and regulatory affairs coordinator. Earning a CCEP or completing a compliance certificate program through a New York law school or professional association gives candidates a concrete credential that signals seriousness to hiring managers.
Where can I find and apply to compliance manager jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to compliance manager jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across New York City, Albany, Buffalo, and surrounding areas. Search the listings for roles that match your experience and specialization, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
