We're a growing esthetics and skincare spa in Lynnfield, MA, building our massage therapy service from the ground up and we're looking for a dynamic, highly organized Lead Licensed Massage Therapist & Compliance Officer to help us do it. This pivotal role combines expert, hands-on massage therapy with leadership and regulatory compliance. You'll be the senior massage professional in the building: delivering exceptional client care, assisting with the initial development and launch of our massage service menu, mentoring the team we hire after you, keeping us fully compliant with Massachusetts regulations, and helping foster a warm, welcoming environment where clients feel genuinely cared for.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Deliver high-quality massage services across a range of modalities such as Swedish, deep tissue, trigger point, and sports massage, each tailored to each client's needs.
- Lead and mentor a team of licensed massage therapists: training, hands-on skill development, scheduling, and constructive performance feedback.
- Serve as the establishment's designated Compliance Officer with the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Massage Therapy. Own the compliance plan and recordkeeping, act as the Board's point of contact, and ensure the spa meets 269 CMR and all state health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
- Conduct thorough client intake and needs assessments within massage therapy scope of practice, identifying contraindications and tailoring each session appropriately.
- Maintain accurate, professional documentation of client sessions, intake, and treatment notes.
- Assist with scheduling, appointment flow, and rebooking as needed alongside the front desk to keep the spa running smoothly and clients satisfied.
- Oversee inventory of massage supplies and equipment so treatment rooms are always ready for the day.
- Champion outstanding customer service. Engage clients professionally, resolve concerns promptly, and build lasting client relationships.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Active Massachusetts LMT license in good standing (required).
- Extensive hands-on experience (typically 3+ years) across diverse modalities such as Swedish, deep tissue, trigger point, and sports massage.
- Proven leadership: prior experience managing, mentoring, or training therapists, ideally in a fast-paced spa or wellness setting.
- Willingness and ability to be approved by the Board to serve as Compliance Officer, including a CORI background check.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, contraindications, sanitation, and professional/ethical standards.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (required).
- Excellent communication skills: able to educate clients on the benefits of treatment and healthy self-care.
- Current professional liability insurance (or willingness to obtain).
- Prior spa or wellness-facility experience preferred; specialized modalities such as prenatal massage are a plus.
