Construction Project Manager Jobs in Nebraska: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a construction project manager in Nebraska?
Most construction project managers in Nebraska start with a bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or architecture, then build field experience as an assistant project manager or superintendent. Nebraska does not require a state-issued license specifically for the construction project manager title, but many employers expect a Project Management Professional credential or an OSHA certification. Advancement typically comes through demonstrated project delivery on increasingly complex commercial or civil projects in the Nebraska market.
How much do construction project managers make in Nebraska?
Construction project managers in Nebraska earn a median of about $100,820 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $63,840 for the lowest 10% to over $158,140 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire construction project managers in Nebraska?
Companies currently hiring construction project managers in Nebraska include AECOM, Kiewit, and Michels, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Nebraska's construction market is anchored by a mix of national general contractors with regional offices and locally headquartered firms that specialize in heavy civil, healthcare, and municipal infrastructure work.
Which Nebraska cities have the most construction project manager jobs?
Omaha, Lincoln, and La Vista have the most construction project manager openings in Nebraska. Omaha dominates the count because it anchors the state's largest commercial real estate, healthcare construction, and transportation infrastructure programs, while Lincoln's government, university, and mixed-use development activity sustains a strong secondary market for project management talent.
Are there remote construction project manager jobs in Nebraska?
Yes, but they're rare. About 25% of construction project manager openings tied to Nebraska are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the fundamentally on-site nature of the role. The tasks most often done remotely are preconstruction planning, estimating, and owner reporting, while field coordination and subcontractor management almost always require a physical presence on the project site.
How can I get hired as a construction project manager in Nebraska with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a project engineer or assistant project manager role with a large Nebraska general contractor such as Kiewit Corporation or Hawkins Construction, both of which run structured new-graduate programs that rotate candidates across project types. A construction management degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln or UNO strengthens your candidacy considerably, and earning an OSHA 30 certification before you apply signals job-site readiness to Nebraska hiring managers who receive high application volumes.
Where can I find and apply to construction project manager jobs in Nebraska?
You can find and apply to construction project manager jobs in Nebraska on Migrate Mate, which lists current Nebraska openings across commercial, civil, and infrastructure sectors.
