Construction Project Manager Jobs in Utah: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a construction project manager in Utah?
Most construction project managers in Utah start with a bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or architecture, then work several years in field roles such as superintendent or project engineer before stepping into project management. Utah does not require a state-issued contractor's license specifically for project managers, though employers strongly favor candidates holding a Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential. Many Utah firms also look for OSHA training and familiarity with Procore.
How much do construction project managers make in Utah?
Construction project managers in Utah earn a median of about $105,200 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $64,200 for the lowest 10% to over $159,220 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire construction project managers in Utah?
Employers hiring construction project managers in Utah right now include JLL, BHI, and Dennis, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Utah's mix of large regional general contractors, public agency owners, and technology campus developers means consistent openings across both private and public-sector construction programs.
Which Utah cities have the most construction project manager jobs?
Salt Lake City, Ogden, and Eagle Mountain account for the greatest concentration of construction project manager openings in Utah. Salt Lake City anchors the market through its density of general contractors, public infrastructure projects, and corporate headquarters, while Provo's growth is driven by technology campuses and university expansion, and St. George draws demand from the region's fast-rising residential and commercial development.
Are there remote construction project manager jobs in Utah?
Yes, but they're rare. Construction project management is fundamentally a site-based role, requiring regular presence on job sites, subcontractor coordination, and in-person inspections. About 20% of construction project manager openings tied to Utah are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those openings typically involve pre-construction planning, estimating, or owner's representative oversight rather than active field supervision.
How can I get hired as a construction project manager in Utah with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is starting as a project engineer or assistant superintendent with a regional general contractor such as Layton Construction or Big-D Construction, both of which recruit new graduates from the University of Utah and Brigham Young University construction management programs. Working toward an OSHA 30-Hour certification and learning Procore before applying gives candidates a concrete edge. Entry-level roles in estimating or scheduling are also common lateral moves that lead into project management within a few years.
Where can I find and apply to construction project manager jobs in Utah?
You can find and apply to construction project manager jobs in Utah on Migrate Mate, which lists current Utah openings across commercial, civil, and public-sector construction. Find roles that fit your experience and specialization and apply directly to the employers posting them.
