Most employers also expect OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification before hiring. Candidates pursuing inspection or materials testing roles often pursue ACI or ICC certification, both recognized by New York City and state agencies as qualifying credentials.
How much do construction technicians make in New York?
Construction technicians in New York earn a median of about $55,930 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $34,320 for the lowest 10% to over $96,590 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire construction technicians in New York?
Employers hiring construction technicians in New York right now include Verizon, CBRE, and LaBella Associates, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's volume of large-scale infrastructure, transit, and commercial development projects means demand runs across general contractors, engineering consultants, and public agencies throughout the state.
Which New York cities have the most construction technician jobs?
New York, Buffalo, and Rochester have the most construction technician openings in New York. New York City dominates because of its density of commercial, transit, and public infrastructure projects, while Buffalo and Albany generate steady demand through regional construction programs tied to state-funded capital investments and institutional development.
Are there remote construction technician jobs in New York?
Yes, but they're rare. About 5% of construction technician openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the fact that most of the role is tied to physical job sites. The portions of the work most likely to allow remote or hybrid arrangements are project documentation, reporting, and CAD-based plan review.
