· Work with staff, architects, engineers, etc. as needed to assess conditions (e.g., leaks, deterioration, etc.), identify solutions, and scope repairs.
· Communicate regularly with Tenant Stewardship Manager to ensure tenants remain informed about project status and impact.
· Ensure all work performed by subcontractors adheres to industry standards, safety, and preservation best practices.
· Develop, maintain, and follow a set of specifications for commonly performed work.
· Inform and identify annual capital priorities and budgetary needs.
· Seek and implement efficiencies in project tracking, documentation, and planning.

Construction Technician Jobs in Rhode Island: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a construction technician in Rhode Island?
Most Rhode Island employers require at minimum a vocational certificate or associate degree in construction technology from a program like those offered at New England Institute of Technology or Community College of Rhode Island. While Rhode Island does not issue a single state license for the construction technician title, candidates working on regulated trades or project management support typically hold OSHA safety credentials and may need to align with Rhode Island's contractor licensing framework overseen by the Department of Labor and Training.
Which companies hire construction technicians in Rhode Island?
Rhode Island construction technician roles are posted by JLL, GZA GeoEnvironmental, and General Dynamics Electric Boat and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Rhode Island's concentration of major commercial builders and institutional construction clients at hospitals, universities, and state infrastructure projects keeps demand for qualified technicians consistent year-round.
Which Rhode Island cities have the most construction technician jobs?
Providence, North Kingstown, and Johnston have the most construction technician openings in Rhode Island. Providence drives the largest share given its density of commercial development, hospital expansion projects, and university campus work, while Cranston and Warwick anchor demand through industrial and retail construction activity tied to their established business corridors.
Are there remote construction technician jobs in Rhode Island?
Yes, but they're rare. About 18% of construction technician openings tied to Rhode Island are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how hands-on and site-dependent most of the work is. The portions of the role most likely to allow remote work are estimating, document control, and project coordination tasks rather than field inspection or installation work.
How can I get hired as a construction technician in Rhode Island with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through an apprenticeship or co-op program attached to a Rhode Island vocational school or community college, particularly through Community College of Rhode Island's construction technology track. Large firms like Gilbane and Dimeo periodically hire entry-level project assistant and field technician trainees. Candidates with OSHA 10 certification, a basic Procore familiarity, and experience in adjacent roles such as laborer, materials handler, or survey aide consistently stand out in Rhode Island entry-level applicant pools.
Where can I find and apply to construction technician jobs in Rhode Island?
You can find and apply to construction technician jobs in Rhode Island on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your experience and location, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
