Creative Manager Jobs in Virginia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a creative manager in Virginia?
Creative manager roles in Virginia do not require a state-issued license or board registration. Most employers expect a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, design, or a related field, along with several years of hands-on creative or marketing experience. Building a strong portfolio that demonstrates leadership across campaigns, brand work, or content programs is the most direct path. Virginia's dense concentration of federal contractors and technology firms means candidates who show experience working within regulated or matrixed organizations have a clear advantage.
How much do creative managers make in Virginia?
Creative managers in Virginia earn a median of about $101,150 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $64,010 for the lowest 10% to over $165,010 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire creative managers in Virginia?
Employers hiring creative managers in Virginia right now include Capital One, RHOBACK, and Amazon, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Virginia's mix of federal agencies, defense contractors, and Fortune 500 headquarters creates consistent and varied creative manager demand throughout the year.
Which Virginia cities have the most creative manager jobs?
McLean, Arlington, and Dulles lead Virginia for creative manager openings. Northern Virginia's proximity to federal agencies and major technology and consulting headquarters drives the largest share, while Richmond's headquarters presence in financial services, retail, and media sustains steady demand, and Virginia Beach draws openings from regional healthcare systems and government contractors anchored along the coast.
Are there remote creative manager jobs in Virginia?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 100% of creative manager openings tied to Virginia are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how much of the work, including campaign planning, content development, and creative direction, can be done independently of a physical office. Strategy-heavy and brand-focused creative manager roles tend to offer the most location flexibility, while roles tied to in-house production studios or live events are more likely to require an on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a creative manager in Virginia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is to move into a creative manager role from a coordinator or senior individual contributor position in content, design, or marketing. Large Virginia employers such as Booz Allen Hamilton, Capital One, and Inova Health System regularly post associate creative, content specialist, and marketing coordinator roles that build directly toward management. Building a portfolio that includes any project leadership, even informal team coordination or freelance direction, strengthens your case significantly. Completing a recognized digital marketing or project management credential also helps close the experience gap for candidates stepping into their first management title.
Where can I find and apply to creative manager jobs in Virginia?
You can find and apply to creative manager jobs in Virginia on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring across the state. Search the listings, find the roles that match your background and the type of organization you want to work for, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
