Tips for Your Customer Operations Manager Job Search
Quantify your operational impact clearly
Customer operations managers are expected to drive measurable outcomes, so your resume needs numbers attached to process changes you led, ticket volume you managed, or CSAT scores you improved. Vague claims about improving efficiency won't move you past a recruiter's first scan.
Tailor your resume to the tech stack listed
Most postings name the CRM or support platform the team runs on, whether that's Salesforce, Zendesk, or Intercom. Mirror that tool language on your resume. Hiring managers filter fast for candidates who already know the system they use.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists customer operations manager openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Target roles by the team size they manage
Job postings often signal whether you'd be managing a two-person queue team or a forty-person global support org. Match your application to where your experience sits. Applying for a director role when your experience is a five-person team creates a harder sell at every stage.
Prepare a process improvement story for interviews
Interviewers for this role almost always ask you to walk through a time you fixed a broken operation. Have a specific story ready that covers what the problem was, what you changed, and what the outcome was in plain, concrete terms.
Negotiate using scope, not just title
If the base offer is firm, push on budget authority, team headcount, or the tools you'd control. Customer operations managers who can demonstrate they need those resources to hit stated goals often get them added to an offer when salary flexibility is capped.
Customer Operations Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most customer operations managers?
The companies hiring the most customer operations managers right now include AutoZone, Finish Line, and Walgreens, with the largest share of openings in California, Texas, and Florida, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Demand is strongest at companies scaling customer success or post-sale support functions.
How many customer operations manager jobs are remote?
About 7% of customer operations manager openings are fully remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the role's reliance on digital tools over in-person presence. Sub-areas such as customer success operations and support workflow management tend to have the highest share of remote-eligible postings.
How do you become a customer operations manager?
Most customer operations managers move into the role after building experience as a customer support specialist, customer success associate, or operations coordinator. From there, taking ownership of a process improvement project or a reporting function is the most common path to a management title. Familiarity with CRM platforms and a demonstrated ability to lead a small team or workflow change typically precede a first manager offer.
Can you get hired as a customer operations manager without direct management experience?
Yes, some companies hire customer operations managers from strong individual contributor backgrounds, especially at earlier-stage companies where the role is being built from scratch. Candidates without formal management experience do best when they can point to cross-functional projects they led, process changes they owned end-to-end, or mentorship of junior teammates, because those signal readiness to manage without requiring the title on a previous resume.
What does the customer operations manager interview process look like?
Most hiring processes for this role run three to four stages. An initial recruiter screen is followed by a hiring manager conversation focused on your operational background and leadership style. A work sample or case exercise is common at mid-stage, typically asking you to diagnose a broken process or prioritize a backlog. Final rounds usually include conversations with cross-functional partners in product, sales, or support to assess how you collaborate outside your direct team.
Where can I find and apply to customer operations manager jobs?
You can find and apply to customer operations manager jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from companies across the United States. Find roles that match your experience and apply directly to each listing from the page.
