- Oversee access control policies, privileged access workflows, multifactor authentication enforcement, least‑privilege reviews, and secure onboarding/offboarding procedures.
- Ensure accurate and auditable access records across virtualization, storage, network, and cloud platforms.
ATO Lifecycle Management & Compliance:
- Lead ATO readiness and maintenance for DT platforms by managing documentation, security control inheritance, SSP updates, and audit evidence coordination.
- Support NIST RMF activities including categorization, control implementation, control assessments, and continuous monitoring.
- Maintain alignment with federal cybersecurity standards, STIGs, FedRAMP, and DT security policies.
Monitoring, Observability & Reporting:
- Oversee continuous monitoring dashboards, compliance scorecards, vulnerability trend reports, patch compliance metrics, and EDR effectiveness reporting.
- Collaborate with SOC analysts and DT leadership to provide mission‑critical insights on threat posture, gaps, and recommended improvements.
- Support integration and optimization of security telemetry from tools such as Tripwire, Cortex, SIEM platforms, and Archangel (vulnerability and cyber risk management).
Security Incident Coordination:
- Collaborate with the SOC, IR teams, and system owners during incident investigations, containment, eradication, and recovery activities.
- Provide technical leadership for incident RCA, corrective action plans, and long-term control improvements.
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration:
- Partner closely with engineering teams, data center operations, cloud service engineers, system owners, and DT cybersecurity leadership to ensure holistic security coverage.
- Produce playbooks, SOPs, hardening guides, user access documentation, and technical training content for Government FTEs and support contractors.
- Lead special security modernization projects, pilots, tool evaluations, and capability uplift initiatives.

Data Center Technician Jobs in District of Columbia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a data center technician in District of Columbia?
District of Columbia does not issue a state-specific license for data center technicians, so entry typically begins with an associate degree or vocational training in information technology, electronics, or network administration combined with industry certifications such as CompTIA A+ or Network+. Many federal contractors operating in the District require candidates to be clearance-eligible, so a clean background is a practical prerequisite. Building credentials through an apprenticeship with a unionized contractor or completing a structured IT support program at a community college in the region is a common starting path.
Which companies hire data center technicians in District of Columbia?
District of Columbia data center technician roles are posted by General Dynamics Information Technology, Affiliated Engineers, and Archetype Infrastructure Solutions and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. The District's heavy reliance on federal IT infrastructure means defense and government IT contractors account for a large share of consistent, long-term openings in the area.
Which District of Columbia cities have the most data center technician jobs?
Washington are the District of Columbia areas with the most data center technician openings. Washington D.C. itself anchors demand through federal agencies and their supporting contractors, while the broader metro draws significant hiring because of the dense clustering of cloud providers, government IT integrators, and cybersecurity firms that operate facilities and offices just outside the District's boundaries.
Are there remote data center technician jobs in District of Columbia?
Yes, but they're rare. Data center technician work is fundamentally hands-on, requiring physical presence for hardware installation, cabling, and equipment maintenance, so fully remote roles are uncommon. About 82% of data center technician openings tied to District of Columbia are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, and those tend to cover NOC monitoring, ticketing, or remote hands coordination rather than physical floor work.
How can I get hired as a data center technician in District of Columbia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an IT support or help desk role with a federal contractor or large agency integrator in the District, then transition into a junior data center role once you have demonstrated hardware familiarity. Community colleges in the area such as Northern Virginia Community College offer structured IT programs that large contractors actively recruit from. Earning CompTIA A+ before applying gives candidates a concrete edge, and being willing to begin the security clearance process from day one significantly widens the field of available entry-level openings.
Where can I find and apply to data center technician jobs in District of Columbia?
You can find and apply to data center technician jobs in District of Columbia on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings in the region. Search the available roles, identify the ones that match your experience and certifications, and apply directly to each one that fits your background.
