Development Manager Jobs in Nebraska: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a development manager in Nebraska?
Most development manager roles in Nebraska require a bachelor's degree in a field aligned with the specialization, such as computer science for technology tracks or business administration for commercial or nonprofit development. Nebraska does not issue a state license for the development manager title itself, but employers in healthcare and nonprofit sectors often expect credentials like the PMP certification or a Certified Fund Raising Executive designation. Gaining several years of individual-contributor experience before moving into people management is the standard path Nebraska hiring managers describe.
How much do development managers make in Nebraska?
Development managers in Nebraska earn a median of about $116,430 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $59,240 for the lowest 10% to over $188,490 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire development managers in Nebraska?
Companies currently hiring development managers in Nebraska include HDR, CLAAS, and Kiewit, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Nebraska's concentration of insurance, logistics, healthcare, and university employers means openings tend to cluster around Omaha and Lincoln institutions with multi-department technology or program teams.
Which Nebraska cities have the most development manager jobs?
Omaha, Nebraska, and Kearney have the most development manager openings in Nebraska. Omaha dominates because it is home to major corporate headquarters in insurance, finance, and logistics, while Lincoln's openings are driven largely by state government, the University of Nebraska system, and a growing technology sector that has expanded around the UNL research campus.
Are there remote development manager jobs in Nebraska?
Yes, and they are reasonably common for desk-based development manager roles such as software development management and business development, though rarer for roles tied to on-site teams or facilities. About 33% of development manager openings tied to Nebraska are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting broader technology-sector norms. The most remote-compatible segment involves product and engineering management, where the work centers on meetings, documentation, and asynchronous coordination rather than physical presence.
How can I get hired as a development manager in Nebraska with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from a senior individual-contributor role, such as a software engineer, business analyst, or major gifts officer, into a team-lead or assistant manager position before pursuing a full development manager title. Large Nebraska employers like Mutual of Omaha and the University of Nebraska system run formal leadership development programs that accept internal candidates without prior management experience. Building a portfolio of cross-functional projects, earning a PMP or similar credential, and targeting associate manager or development coordinator postings at Omaha-area nonprofits and mid-size technology firms are the steps that open the door fastest.
Where can I find and apply to development manager jobs in Nebraska?
You can find and apply to development manager jobs in Nebraska on Migrate Mate, which lists current Nebraska openings updated regularly. Search for roles that fit your background and experience level, then apply directly to the ones that match. No profile creation is required to see the listings and submit your application.
