- Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure marketing plans are delivered effectively, on time, and with clear accountability.
- Own the app marketing calendar, ensuring a consistent cadence of content, campaigns, and engagement opportunities for fans and collectors.
- Partner with CRM teams to optimize lifecycle marketing programs across email and push notifications.
- Collaborate with growth marketing teams to support paid acquisition, retargeting, and conversion-driving initiatives.
- Work closely with the Hot Wheels brand team to extend app visibility through social, influencer, community, and live event activations.
- Analyze campaign and app performance data, translating insights into actionable recommendations and optimization plans.
- Prepare and present performance updates, key learnings, and strategic recommendations to stakeholders.
- Act as a hands-on contributor when needed, creating campaign assets, writing copy, managing tracking links and QR codes, coordinating execution details, and solving operational challenges.
- Champion a test-and-learn culture, continuously identifying new opportunities to improve marketing effectiveness and business results.
- Ensure all marketing activities deliver a high-quality fan experience and remain aligned with the Hot Wheels brand.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of experience in digital marketing, growth marketing, lifecycle marketing, app marketing, brand marketing, or related roles; 5+ years of relevant experience with an MBA.
- Demonstrated experience driving growth, engagement, conversion, and retention for a mobile app, digital platform, subscription product, membership program, gaming experience, content platform, or consumer digital product.
- Strong understanding of full-funnel digital marketing, including acquisition, activation, CRM, performance marketing, organic growth, conversion optimization, and retention.
- Experience developing KPI frameworks, analyzing performance data, identifying insights, and translating findings into strategic and tactical marketing plans.

- Strong CRM experience, including email, push notifications, lifecycle journeys, segmentation, messaging strategy, testing, and performance analysis.
- Familiarity with performance marketing, paid media campaign planning, audience targeting, creative testing, attribution, and optimization.
- Experience with in-app content strategy, content calendars, merchandising, campaign planning, or digital engagement programming.
- Ability to develop strong creative briefs, marketing copy, messaging frameworks, presentations, campaign recaps, and stakeholder communications.
- Comfort working with marketing tools and analytics platforms. Experience with tools such as Singular, Google Analytics, Firebase, CRM platforms, mobile measurement partners, or similar systems is a plus.
- Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, and other core business tools.

Digital Marketing Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a digital marketing in California?
Digital marketing roles in California do not require a state-issued license, so the path runs through education and demonstrated skills. Most employers expect a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field. Building a portfolio of campaign results, earning recognized certifications such as Google Ads or Meta Blueprint, and gaining hands-on experience through internships or contract work are the concrete steps that move candidates from interested to hired in California's competitive market.
How much do digital marketings make in California?
Digital marketings in California earn a median of about $94,700 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $48,440 for the lowest 10% to over $181,600 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire digital marketings in California?
Employers hiring digital marketings in California right now include Amazon, NBCUniversal, and Sony Music Entertainment, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. California's concentration of technology companies, streaming platforms, and direct-to-consumer brands means demand for digital marketers is spread across industries rather than limited to traditional advertising agencies.
Which California cities have the most digital marketing jobs?
San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Pleasanton have the most digital marketing openings in California. Los Angeles drives volume through its entertainment, e-commerce, and consumer brand sectors, while the San Francisco Bay Area's dense concentration of technology companies and venture-backed startups sustains consistent demand, and San Diego's growing biotech and consumer goods scene accounts for a meaningful share of listings.
Are there remote digital marketing jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 36% of digital marketing openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how much of the work is done through screens, data dashboards, and digital platforms rather than on-site. Performance marketing, content strategy, and SEO roles are the most consistently offered in fully remote formats.
How can I get hired as a digital marketing in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a combination of a relevant degree and a portfolio built through internships or freelance projects. Large California employers including technology companies and entertainment studios regularly hire marketing coordinators and associate marketing managers as entry points. Adjacent roles in social media, content writing, or marketing analytics can also transition into broader digital marketing careers. A Google Ads or Meta Blueprint certification gives candidates a concrete credential that offsets limited work history when applying to California employers.
Where can I find and apply to digital marketing jobs in California?
You can find and apply to digital marketing jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current California openings across industries and experience levels. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to the employer without creating a profile or signing up.
