Buyer, Strategic Sourcing Specialist

Summary
The Buyer, Strategic Sourcing Specialist will perform Direct Materials Sourcing and other Procurement activities including Supplier relationship management, Procure-to-Pay activities, process improvement, management of delivery schedules, and reporting activities as mandated by cGMP’s policies/procedures. The Buyer is also an active team member of Packaging Operations Team, Customer Project Development Teams and leads Supplier sourcing and Direct Materials category reviews.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for driving all aspects of new project sourcing and new material ordering for Packaging Operations involving primary & secondary packaging of OSD (oral solid dose) Therapeutics encompassing bottles, caps, desiccants, excipients, cartooning, labeling, as well as the Quality Control Lab.
- Administrator of the Procure-to-Pay process
- Manage delivery schedule(s) certificates of analysis, and supplier quality issues; resolve or escalate as appropriate
- Identify and source new sources of supply to support new products and alternate sourcing activities that best meet the development and commercial requirements of Adare, including supplier sustainability, cGMP and capacity needs.
- Work with suppliers, product development and finance to help establish costs of new products.
- Develop and maintain reports on all sourcing activities as needed to communicate the status of all direct materials needed for development and alternate sourcing projects.
- Provide sourcing support for scale-up, technology transfer and commercial projects when needed
- Follow cGMPs, safety procedures, DEA procedures, department SOPs and company policies
- Assist department in other assigned functions as required
- Must participate and successfully complete all training as required by the company
- B.S. or B.A. preferably in Business, Finance, Engineering, or Life Sciences with some direct procurement knowledge, or minimum High School diploma with extensive experience sourcing direct materials for chemistry labs and/or packaging lines
- 5+ years Pharmaceutical Manufacturing or other GMP regulated industry experience
- Computer skills and Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft AX Enterprise
- Good planning and coordination skills and able to adapt to changes in priorities and project schedules
- Quality and attention to detail in documentation work and reports
- Strong written communication skills, creativity, and enthusiasm
- Ability to work well in a team setting and work on multiple projects
- Good knowledge of cGMP requirements and current industry practices
- Ability to effectively present information
