Director of Strategic Sourcing Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a director of strategic sourcing in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts does not require a state-issued license to work as a director of strategic sourcing, so the path runs through education and professional credentials. Most employers expect a bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, or engineering, and many prefer candidates with an MBA. Earning a Certified Professional in Supply Management designation from the Institute for Supply Management strengthens competitiveness. Progression typically moves from analyst or buyer roles into category management and then sourcing leadership within Massachusetts-based industries like life sciences, defense, or healthcare.
Which companies hire director of strategic sourcings in Massachusetts?
Employers hiring director of strategic sourcings in Massachusetts right now include Amazon, ENEL, and Zoox, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Massachusetts's concentration of defense primes, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and large academic medical centers generates consistent demand for senior sourcing leadership across both direct and indirect spend categories.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most director of strategic sourcing jobs?
The Massachusetts cities with the most director of strategic sourcing openings are Boston, Beverly, and Reading. Greater Boston drives the largest share given its density of Fortune 500 headquarters, research hospitals, and defense contractors, while Worcester and suburban Route 128 communities reflect the sourcing needs of mid-market manufacturers and biopharma operations that anchor those corridors.
Are there remote director of strategic sourcing jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, and more than many supply chain roles, since strategic sourcing is heavily analytical and relationship-driven rather than tied to a physical facility. About 50% of director of strategic sourcing openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting employer flexibility for senior individual contributors. Category strategy work, supplier analysis, and contract negotiations lend themselves most readily to remote arrangements, while on-site expectations tend to arise during supplier audits or cross-functional leadership meetings.
How can I get hired as a director of strategic sourcing in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is securing a procurement analyst or junior buyer role within a Massachusetts employer in life sciences, defense, or healthcare and building category expertise from there. Large Massachusetts employers such as Thermo Fisher Scientific and Raytheon Technologies operate rotational supply chain development programs that accept candidates with supply chain degrees and limited direct experience. Earning a Certified Professional in Supply Management credential early, and gaining ERP experience through internships or entry roles, signals seriousness to hiring teams looking to promote from within.
Where can I find and apply to director of strategic sourcing jobs in Massachusetts?
You can find and apply to director of strategic sourcing jobs in Massachusetts on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to the state. Search the listings, identify the roles that match your category expertise and seniority level, and apply directly to the ones that fit. No sign-up is required to see what is currently open.
