Sr Director, Product Management (PXDP65)
Product Management at Capital One is a booming, vibrant craft that requires reimagining the status quo, finding value creation opportunities, and driving innovative and sustainable customer experiences through technology. We believe our portfolio of businesses and investments in growth and transformation will result in a company with the scale, brand, capabilities, talent, and values to succeed as the digital revolution transforms our society and our industry.
About the Team
As part of the Global Payments Network Product team, you will help lead and own the core authorization domain that sits at the center of every transaction we process: authorization decisioning, rules and configuration, routing, resiliency, and trust (fraud/risk signaling, credential validation, tokenization). This leader will be accountable end-to-end for the platform's ability to authorize transactions correctly, securely, and reliably at scale across all networks (DN, DCI, PULSE) and schemes, setting the highest bar for change control, testing, and uptime given that any defect in this domain directly threatens live money movement — while drawing a clear, defensible boundary between what belongs in the core versus what should live in adjacent domains (boarding, client servicing, settlement, regulatory/risk, data & insights, etc.). The ideal candidate has deep experience running mission-critical, high-availability transaction-processing systems in payments or financial services, a track record of building platforms designed for products not yet imagined rather than re-architecting around today's requirements, and the organizational maturity to partner closely with peer domain owners, product, and risk/compliance stakeholders during a major platform migration and cutover.

How do you become a director, product management in Virginia?
There is no state-issued license or certification required to work as a director, product management in Virginia. Most hiring managers expect a bachelor's degree in a technical or business discipline, several years of hands-on product management experience, and a record of leading teams. In Virginia's defense and government IT market, many director roles additionally require an active or obtainable federal security clearance, which candidates should pursue early through a sponsoring employer.
How much do Director, product managements make in Virginia?
Director, product managements in Virginia earn a median of about $187,820 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $107,710 for the lowest 10% to over $292,430 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire director, product managements in Virginia?
Employers hiring director, product managements in Virginia right now include Capital One, Information Technology Senior Management Forum, and Verisign, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Northern Virginia's density of defense contractors, federal agencies, and cloud infrastructure companies makes it one of the most concentrated markets in the country for senior product leadership roles.
Which Virginia cities have the most director, product management jobs?
McLean, Reston, and Richmond have the most director, product management openings in Virginia. Northern Virginia's concentration of defense contractors, cloud providers, and government IT firms drives the largest share of demand, while Richmond's growing fintech and insurance technology sector and the Hampton Roads area's federal naval and cybersecurity presence account for meaningful hiring outside the immediate D.C. suburbs.
Are there remote director, product management jobs in Virginia?
Yes, and more than most fields, since product management is primarily a collaborative and analytical discipline that translates well to distributed work. About 60% of director, product management openings tied to Virginia are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, though roles supporting classified government programs almost always require on-site presence. Strategic roadmap and platform-focused director positions tend to offer the most remote flexibility.
How can I get hired as a director, product management in Virginia with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is moving into a senior product manager role first and building toward director through demonstrated scope growth rather than applying directly. Virginia employers such as Booz Allen Hamilton and Leidos regularly hire associate or mid-level product managers and promote from within, so targeting those structured pipelines is effective. Lateral moves from program management, business analysis, or systems engineering are common entry points in Virginia's defense and government IT market, and a PMP credential or agile certification can strengthen a non-traditional candidacy.
Where can I find and apply to director, product management jobs in Virginia?
You can find and apply to director, product management jobs in Virginia on Migrate Mate, which lists current Virginia openings across Northern Virginia, Richmond, and other hiring centers in the state. Find a role that fits and apply directly from the listing.
