Key Position Details:
- .5 FTE (20 hours per 2 weeks)
- 8/12 combo shift, day/evening
- Occasional weekend rotation, 1- or 2-times a year
Job Description:
Delivers full range of learning and development activities including assessment, planning, design, delivery and consultation specific to the clinical area or department request.
Principle Responsibilities
- Education Delivery.
- Delivers training to staff and community groups, applying adult learning principles in classroom and scenario-based settings (indoors and outdoors).
- Travels to various sites, transporting equipment as needed.
- Prepares materials and administers curriculum.
- Provides feedback to learners regarding exams and skills.
- Evaluates immediate learner response and address issues.
- Provides expert consultation, integrating knowledge of clinical learning solutions.
- Education Planning and Design.
- Assesses learning needs and designs action plans for department initiatives.
- Develops and revises curriculum based on regulatory standards, medical director direction and organizational standards.
- Evaluates effectiveness of learning solutions and recommends improvements.
- Makes recommendations to department leadership regarding prioritization or changes in tactical plans.
- Supports implementation and communication of standard learning solutions.
- Class and Logistics Management.
- Manages class logistics, including documentation and equipment maintenance.
- Ensures compliance with all required documentation and standards.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s or Vocational degree required upon hire or 10 years working in 911 environment (degree requirement waived)
- 2+ years experience in learning and development
- 2+ years experience in EMS clinical care
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree EMS education or nursing depending on clinical setting
Licenses/Certifications
- Must meet ONE of the following requirements upon hire:
- Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)-MN Office of Emergency Medical Services
- Certified Paramedic-MN Office of Emergency Medical Services
- Licensed Registered Nurse-MN Board of Nursing required for Registered Nurses practicing in Minnesota
- Licensed Registered Nurse-WI Dept of Safety & Professional Services required for Registered Nurses practicing in Wisconsin
- Certified Paramedic and Registered Nurses – Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Provider Certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required upon hire. After hire recertification required through American Heart Association
- Certified Emergency Medical Technician, Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association or American Red Cross. After hire recertification required through American Heart Association
- Post hire requirements:
- American Heart Association ACLS/BLS/PALS Instructor Certification required within 6 months of hire for Certified Paramedic and Licensed Registered Nurse
- American Heart Association BLS Instructor Certification required within 6 months of hire for Certified Emergency Medical Technicians
- Department of Transportation Instructor Certification preferred

- Medium Work:
- Lifting weight up to 50 lbs. occasionally, up to 25 lbs. frequently
Pay Range
Pay Range: $38.52 to $52.80 per hour
The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
