Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support the design and execution of advanced energy infrastructure projects, including electric vehicle charging systems and distributed energy resources.
This position will work closely with internal teams, external engineering partners, and equipment vendors to deliver safe, code-compliant electrical designs. The successful candidate will also help improve the templates, standards, quality-control procedures, and technical processes needed to support larger and more complex energy projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop electrical Basis of Design packages for external Engineers of Record to use in preparing stamped designs.
- Create and improve engineering processes, templates, standards, and QA/QC checklists.
- Review engineering deliverables for completeness, technical accuracy, and compliance with NEC and NFPA 70E requirements.
- Document engineering decisions and technical rationale, including design reviews, breaker and protection-setting validation, utility coordination, and project turnover materials.
- Coordinate with external engineering firms, vendors, utilities, and internal stakeholders to maintain alignment on project scope and design intent.
- Support commissioning and safety teams in developing practical, code-compliant procedures.
- Manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while communicating priorities, risks, and project status clearly.
- Research electrical equipment and evaluate technical specifications.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, including EV direct-current fast charging, distributed energy resources, battery energy storage systems, and medium-voltage distribution.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- At least five years of relevant electrical engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and strong technical capability.
- Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code and NFPA 70E.
- Ability to research, interpret, and apply relevant electrical codes and standards.
- Experience with electrical power distribution and at least one of the following:
- EV charging infrastructure
- Distributed energy resources
- Battery energy storage systems
- Medium-voltage distribution
- Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate effectively with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills and an interest in taking on increasing levels of responsibility.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience creating Basis of Design packages, QA/QC checklists, or commissioning documentation.
- Familiarity with arc-flash documentation and analysis workflows.
- Experience reviewing stamped electrical drawings for code compliance and design alignment.
- Engineer-in-Training, Fundamentals of Engineering, or Professional Engineer credential.
- Familiarity with electrical engineering design and analysis tools.
