The Hardware Engineering Team provides engineering design & development services to a wide range of products within Raytheon. The Critical Item Production Readiness (CPR) department is dedicated to ensuring that every product we develop is designed with its entire production lifecycle in mind. By integrating principles of manufacturability, assembly, scalability, and cost management, we aim to achieve production excellence while meeting the highest standards of quality and reliability.

The CPR Department is seeking an RF Product Development Engineering (PDE) Section Leader with experience in RF circuit card and printed circuit producibility as well as experience in the electrical design process to join our team in Tucson, AZ.

What You Will Do

Lead performance management and career development for team members, including management of a team skills matrix, professional development, and establishment of team specialized in RF Technology

Support hiring efforts, including résumé screening and conducting interviews

Drive and contribute to department initiatives, goals, and continuous improvement

Ensure effective and efficient program execution by engaging closely with program IPTs to reduce risk and cost

Serve as an active member of the functional leadership team, supporting business activities within the Hardware Engineering organization

Participate in gate and design reviews to ensure robust technical execution of RF Products

Provide oversight of producibility, prototyping, and supplier‑focused technical activities across the hardware development lifecycle—driving Critical Item/Technology action plans, leading NPI implementation, developing producibility strategies, managing DFMA and cost‑reduction efforts, assessing supplier technical capability and readiness, monitoring manufacturing risks and yield metrics, coordinating cross‑functional alignment, and presenting producibility analyses when required.

Collaborate and interface across all levels of the organization and multiple engineering and support disciplines, including Electrical Design, ECAD, Component Engineering, Design Integrity, Cables and Harnessing, Mechanical Design, Materials and Process, Suppliers, Supply Chain, Quality, Test, Planning, Configuration Management, and Labs

Qualifications You Must Have

Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 8 years of professional engineering experience, or an advanced degree with 5 years of experience

Minimum of 5 years of experience in hardware development for RF PCB and CCA technologies, including sourcing, manufacturing process development, and production support for new hardware

Working knowledge of the defense hardware development lifecycle, including IPC and MIL specifications, design guides, BOM development/management, and leading cross-functional teams or projects

Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government–issued security clearance

U.S. citizenship (required for clearance eligibility)

Willingness to travel to suppliers

Qualifications We Prefer

Strong technical expertise in PCB manufacturing, CCA assembly, and missile subsystem development

Proven leadership of Integrated Product Teams

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for coordinating across multiple disciplines and levels of management

Ability to apply broad, multi-disciplinary technical knowledge with minimal direction

Demonstrated ability to plan projects, manage risk, and align cross-functional stakeholders

Familiarity with EEE parts used in extreme impulse and exo-atmospheric environments

Solid understanding of PCB design, manufacturing, and assembly

Experience driving collaboration across engineering disciplines to meet program objectives

Knowledge of IPC and MIL specifications, design guides, component standards, QPLs, and QMLs

Proficiency in project management (scheduling, financials, resources)

Experience with BOM/database tools such as CROMA, cPDM, EDM, eCIMS, and MS Access

Working knowledge of PRISM/Kinaxis

Ability to solve complex technical problems, innovate, and lead major project activities

Experience working with supply chain, operations, quality, reliability, and program management

Willingness to travel up to 15% domestically and internationally

Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
