Position Summary

The Environmental Health and Safety Manager leads Palram's environmental, health and safety program across production, warehouse, maintenance and administrative operations. This hands-on role partners with leaders and employees to prevent injuries and environmental incidents, maintain regulatory compliance, strengthen accountability and continuously improve EHS performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

EHS Leadership and Compliance

· Set the direction for the site EHS program and integrate EHS requirements into daily operations and business planning.

· Maintain current knowledge of applicable federal, state and local EHS requirements; translate requirements into practical policies, procedures and operating controls.

· Serve as the primary contact for regulatory agency inspections, inquiries, required submissions and follow-up actions.

· Manage environmental permits, inspections, monitoring, records and reporting applicable to site operations, including waste, air, water and spill-prevention requirements.

· Plan and conduct internal audits and compliance assessments; track corrective actions through verified completion.

Risk Reduction and Safety Programs

· Lead workplace risk assessments and apply the hierarchy of controls to eliminate hazards or reduce exposure.

· Maintain programs for machine and equipment safety, powered industrial trucks, ergonomics, emergency preparedness, personal protective equipment, hazard communication and other applicable operational risks.

· Conduct regular field observations and facility inspections; engage employees and leaders in identifying hazards and improving controls.

· Lead safety committees and employee participation activities that build EHS ownership and reinforce Palram's Safety First culture.

· Coordinate emergency response plans, drills and required training with site leaders and external resources as appropriate.

· Maintain an accurate chemical inventory and accessible Safety Data Sheets for hazardous chemicals used or stored at the facility.

Training and Communication

· Develop and maintain an EHS training matrix based on job responsibilities and regulatory requirements.

· Deliver or coordinate required training, including powered industrial truck, first aid and CPR, emergency response, hazard communication and recurring safety topics.

· Communicate EHS objectives, performance expectations and lessons learned in a clear, practical manner for employees at all levels.

· Coach leaders on their EHS responsibilities and support consistent application of company policies and safe work practices.

Incident Management and Performance Improvement

· Lead timely investigations of injuries, illnesses, environmental events and near misses; identify root causes and ensure corrective and preventive actions are completed and effective.

· Maintain required injury and illness records and coordinate regulatory reporting in accordance with applicable requirements.

· Establish and monitor leading and lagging EHS indicators, analyze trends and present actionable recommendations to leadership.

· Use audit, incident and performance data to prioritize improvements and evaluate program effectiveness.

Workers Compensation and Injury Management

· Partner with Human Resources, the insurance carrier, medical providers and operational leaders to administer workers' compensation claims and support timely, appropriate case management.

· Administer the return-to-work program, including transitional work coordination and documentation, consistent with medical restrictions, company policy and applicable law.

· Develop and improve injury-prevention initiatives focused on reducing incident frequency, severity and recurrence.

· Coordinate post-incident alcohol and drug testing when required by company policy or applicable law.

Qualifications

Required

· Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, environmental health, safety science or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

· At least five years of progressively responsible EHS experience in manufacturing, distribution, warehousing or a comparable operational environment, including experience leading EHS programs.

· Working knowledge of applicable U.S. occupational safety and environmental laws and regulations, including OSHA requirements.

· Experience with incident investigation, root-cause analysis, corrective action management and workers' compensation administration.

· Experience managing environmental compliance activities, permits or required reporting.

· Strong judgment, organization and project-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and drive work to completion.

· Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to influence employees and leaders at all levels.

· Proficiency using standard business software and EHS data to identify trends, communicate performance and support decisions.

Preferred

· Professional certification or advanced training in occupational safety or environmental management, such as CSP, CIH, CHMM or equivalent.

· Experience improving safety culture and implementing EHS management systems across multiple functions or operating areas.

Work Environment and Role Expectations

· Regular presence in production, warehouse, maintenance and office environments is required. The employee must follow site safety rules and use required personal protective equipment.

· The role requires routine walking through operational areas, participation in inspections and investigations, and the ability to respond to urgent EHS matters when necessary.

Pay: $110,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
