Event Coordinator Jobs in Kansas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a event coordinator in Kansas?
Kansas does not require a state-issued license to work as an event coordinator, so the path runs through education and credentials. Most employers prefer a bachelor's degree in hospitality management, marketing, or communications from a Kansas institution such as Kansas State University or the University of Kansas. Earning the Certified Meeting Professional credential through the Events Industry Council strengthens a candidacy considerably and is widely recognized by Kansas corporate and nonprofit employers.
Which companies hire event coordinators in Kansas?
Companies currently hiring event coordinators in Kansas include Main Event, Prairie View, and Bockers II Catering, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Kansas's mix of large healthcare systems, energy companies, and public universities creates consistent year-round demand beyond the traditional hospitality and venue sector.
Which Kansas cities have the most event coordinator jobs?
Alma, Newton, and Olathe account for the largest share of event coordinator openings in Kansas. Wichita leads as the state's largest metro with its convention center, corporate headquarters, and active nonprofit community, while Kansas City draws from both sides of the state line through its strong corporate and association event market, and Topeka generates steady openings through state government agencies and advocacy organizations.
Are there remote event coordinator jobs in Kansas?
Yes, but they're rare. About 33% of event coordinator openings tied to Kansas are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how hands-on the role typically is. The parts of the work most likely to go remote are pre-event logistics, vendor communication, and project management tasks, while on-site coordination, venue walkthroughs, and day-of execution almost always require a physical presence.
How can I get hired as a event coordinator in Kansas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is an event assistant or administrative coordinator role at a Kansas convention center, university, or nonprofit, where coordinators learn logistics under supervision. Kansas State University and the University of Kansas both run campus event services departments that regularly bring on student and entry-level staff. Volunteering with organizations like the Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce or a local nonprofit gala committee builds a portfolio, and completing the Certified Meeting Professional preparatory coursework signals seriousness to hiring managers even before you sit the exam.
Where can I find and apply to event coordinator jobs in Kansas?
You can find and apply to event coordinator jobs in Kansas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Kansas openings updated regularly. Search for roles that match your experience level and specialty, then apply directly to the listings that fit your background and location preferences.
