Finance Manager Jobs in San Francisco: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a finance manager job in San Francisco?
Focus your search on San Francisco's Financial District, SoMa, and Mission Bay, where fintech firms, late-stage startups, healthcare systems, and commercial real estate companies concentrate their finance hiring. Candidates who stand out in this market combine FP&A or controllership depth with experience in high-growth or venture-backed environments. A CPA or CFA credential strengthens your profile, and familiarity with startup equity accounting or SaaS metrics gives a clear edge with local tech employers.
Which companies hire finance managers in San Francisco?
Employers hiring finance managers in San Francisco right now include Airwallex, Deloitte, and Okta, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. San Francisco's employer mix runs from global financial institutions and publicly traded tech companies to Series B and C startups and major healthcare networks, giving finance managers a wide range of company stages and industries to target.
Are there remote finance manager jobs in San Francisco?
Yes, though remote availability depends heavily on the role: strategic FP&A and financial modeling work is more remote-compatible than treasury, controllership, or roles requiring close collaboration with on-site operations teams. About 74% of finance manager openings tied to San Francisco are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with hybrid arrangements most common at mid-size tech and fintech companies headquartered in SoMa and the Financial District.
How can I get a finance manager job in San Francisco with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in San Francisco is moving up from a senior financial analyst or finance business partner role at a local tech company or healthcare system, where internal promotions into manager titles are common. Venture-backed startups in SoMa and Mission Bay regularly hire ambitious analysts into hybrid manager roles when the company is scaling fast. Building experience with SaaS revenue metrics, Salesforce, and tools like Adaptive Insights or NetSuite makes candidates competitive with San Francisco's startup-heavy employer base.
Which industries hire the most finance managers in San Francisco?
The sectors hiring the most finance managers in San Francisco are Technology & Software, Banking & Financial Services, and Fintech, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. San Francisco's density of venture-backed technology companies, major fintech platforms, and large healthcare networks means these industries consistently generate the highest volume of finance manager openings in the city.
