Our Mission
Reflection’s mission is to build open superintelligence and make it accessible to all. We’re developing open weight models for individuals, agents, enterprises, and even nation states. Our team of AI researchers and company builders come from DeepMind, OpenAI, Google Brain, Meta, Character.AI, Anthropic and beyond.
Role Overview
As a Strategic Finance Manager, you'll help build the core muscles of our capital allocation, forecasting, and planning processes. You'll work across the business — spanning GTM, compute, R&D, and corporate finance — building models and analyses that inform how we allocate resources, evaluate opportunities, and plan for growth. The work will vary depending on where you focus, but the common thread is connecting ground-level business activity to rigorous financial thinking.
- Build financial models across a range of contexts — deals and partnerships, product and channel economics, cost structures, and investment decisions
- Support the corporate financial model with bottoms-up inputs, and maintain that connection as the underlying business evolves
- Partner cross-functionally — with sales, GTM, engineering, research, and finance leadership — to translate business activity into financial frameworks
- Develop cost and investment models (compute, infrastructure, headcount, R&D) to inform resource planning and tradeoff decisions
- Identify financial risks and opportunities early, and help structure decisions that balance growth with returns
- Improve the templates, assumptions libraries, and processes used across the team
What We're Looking For
- Strong financial modeling skills – build clean, auditable models from scratch
- Experience with deal economics, revenue modeling, or commercial finance at a technology company
- Comfort with cost-side modeling: you understand how compute, headcount, and infrastructure costs behave
- Ability to work cross-functionally with sales, legal, and product without losing rigor
- Detail-oriented and intellectually curious
- Effective communicator; ability to explain model assumptions to non-finance stakeholders
- Investment banking, consulting, or FP&A backgrounds
What We Offer
We believe that to build superintelligence that is truly open, you need to start at the foundation. Joining Reflection means building from the ground up as part of a small talent-dense team. You will help define our future as a company, and help define the frontier of open foundational models. We want you to do the most impactful work of your career with the confidence that you and the people you care about most are supported.
- Top-tier compensation: Salary and equity structured to recognize and retain the best talent globally.
- Health & wellness: Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance.
- Life & family: Fully paid parental leave for all new parents, including adoptive and surrogate journeys. Financial support for family planning.
- Benefits & balance: paid time off when you need it, relocation support, and more perks that optimize your time.
- Opportunities to connect with teammates: lunch and dinner are provided daily. We have regular off-sites and team celebrations.

Finance Manager Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a finance manager in California?
The most common path is a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business followed by several years in financial analysis, accounting, or corporate finance roles. California does not require a state license to hold the title of finance manager, but a CPA credential issued through the California Board of Accountancy strengthens candidacy significantly, especially in public companies or heavily regulated industries. An MBA from a California university can accelerate the move into management.
Which companies hire finance managers in California?
Employers hiring finance managers in California right now include KPMG, SingerLewak LLP, and BDO, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. California's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, large healthcare systems, and technology companies means the market refreshes consistently across industries.
Which California cities have the most finance manager jobs?
San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Jose have the most finance manager openings in California. Los Angeles and San Francisco drive volume through their dense clusters of entertainment studios, tech firms, and financial institutions, while San Diego's strong biotech and defense sectors fuel demand in that metro.
Are there remote finance manager jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 25% of finance manager openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how much of the role centers on financial modeling, reporting, and cross-functional collaboration that translates well to distributed work. FP&A and corporate finance roles tend to see the highest share of remote-eligible postings.
How can I get hired as a finance manager in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is landing a financial analyst or senior analyst role first and moving into management after demonstrating leadership on projects. Large California employers like Kaiser Permanente, Wells Fargo, and major tech firms run rotational finance programs and new-graduate associate roles designed to build that pipeline. Earning your CPA through the California Board of Accountancy or completing an MBA at a California university signals readiness for management and gives hiring managers a concrete credential to point to.
Where can I find and apply to finance manager jobs in California?
