Financial Representative Jobs in Oregon: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a financial representative in Oregon?
You start by earning an Oregon Life and Health Insurance Producer license through the Oregon Insurance Division, which requires completing a state-approved pre-licensing course and passing the Oregon licensing exam. Most employers also require or sponsor FINRA Series 6 or Series 7 registration, which involves passing a Financial Industry Regulatory Authority exam. A bachelor's degree in finance or business strengthens your candidacy, and many Oregon credit unions and financial firms hire entry-level representatives who complete these credentials concurrently with starting the role.
Which companies hire financial representatives in Oregon?
Employers hiring financial representatives in Oregon right now include Northwestern Mutual, State Farm, and First Community Credit Union, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Oregon's concentration of credit unions, regional banks, and insurance carriers creates consistent demand for client-facing financial representatives across the state.
Which Oregon cities have the most financial representative jobs?
Salem, Portland, and Bend account for the largest share of financial representative openings in Oregon. Portland drives the bulk of demand as the state's primary financial services hub, home to regional bank headquarters, major insurance carriers, and wealth management offices, while Salem and Eugene add steady volume through credit unions, community banks, and financial planning practices serving those metro areas.
Are there remote financial representative jobs in Oregon?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely desk-based fields because financial representative work often involves in-person client meetings and relationship building. About 0% of financial representative openings tied to Oregon are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting selective flexibility. The parts of the role most likely to be remote are financial planning support, back-office case management, and virtual client consultation, rather than new client acquisition roles.
How can I get hired as a financial representative in Oregon with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is applying to associate or financial services representative roles at Oregon credit unions and regional banks, which commonly run structured onboarding programs for candidates without a prior book of business. OnPoint Community Credit Union, Unitus Community Credit Union, and Umpqua Bank have historically hired and trained entry-level financial representatives in Oregon. Starting in a teller, member services, or customer service role at one of these institutions is a well-traveled lateral move, and obtaining your Oregon Life and Health Insurance Producer license before applying gives you a clear edge.
Where can I find and apply to financial representative jobs in Oregon?
You can find and apply to financial representative jobs in Oregon on Migrate Mate, which lists current Oregon openings from employers actively hiring right now. Search for roles that match your experience level and specialization, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
