Tax Senior Manager Jobs in Oregon: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a tax senior manager in Oregon?
You become a tax senior manager in Oregon by first earning a CPA license through the Oregon Board of Accountancy, which requires passing the Uniform CPA Examination, completing the education requirement, and fulfilling the experience requirement under a licensed CPA. From there, the path runs through staff and senior associate roles in public accounting or corporate tax, building technical depth in compliance and planning, then advancing to manager before reaching the senior manager level.
How much do tax senior managers make in Oregon?
Tax senior managers in Oregon earn a median of about $85,800 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $62,590 for the lowest 10% to over $130,650 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire tax senior managers in Oregon?
Employers hiring tax senior managers in Oregon right now include Geffen Mesher & Company, Aprio, and Jobot, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Oregon's concentration of large multinationals, regional public accounting firms, and major healthcare institutions makes it one of the more active Pacific Northwest markets for senior tax professionals.
Which Oregon cities have the most tax senior manager jobs?
Portland, Bend, and Salem have the most tax senior manager openings in Oregon. Portland drives the bulk of demand as the state's commercial and financial center, home to major corporate headquarters and large regional accounting firms, while Salem's government and healthcare sector and Eugene's university and manufacturing base support consistent but smaller pools of senior tax hiring.
Are there remote tax senior manager jobs in Oregon?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 82% of tax senior manager openings tied to Oregon are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the desk-based and analytical nature of the role. Tax compliance, tax provision, and research-heavy planning work translates well to remote arrangements, while roles with heavy client-facing responsibilities or internal team leadership tend to require at least a hybrid presence.
How can I get hired as a tax senior manager in Oregon with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is entering through a staff or senior associate tax role at a regional public accounting firm, then building toward manager. Large Oregon firms like Moss Adams and Perkins & Co run structured development programs that progress associates toward management responsibility. Candidates moving from adjacent roles in financial reporting or internal audit can cross into tax if they hold an active Oregon CPA license, as the credential signals technical credibility even without direct tax experience.
Where can I find and apply to tax senior manager jobs in Oregon?
You can find and apply to tax senior manager jobs in Oregon on Migrate Mate, which lists current Oregon openings updated regularly. Search the listings to find roles that fit your experience level, specialization, and preferred location, then apply directly to the ones that match.
