Staff Accountant Jobs in Oregon: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a staff accountant in Oregon?
Most Oregon employers require a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance as the baseline for a staff accountant role. While Oregon does not require a license to work as a staff accountant, many employers prefer candidates who are actively pursuing CPA licensure through the Oregon Board of Accountancy, which oversees the CPA examination and licensing process in the state. Passing the CPA exam strengthens your candidacy considerably, even before you earn the full credential.
Which companies hire staff accountants in Oregon?
Oregon staff accountant roles are posted by NOVOGRADAC & COMPANY, Isler CPA, and Knife River and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Oregon's mix of large technology firms, major healthcare systems, and global consumer goods manufacturers creates consistent year-round demand for staff accountants across the state.
Which Oregon cities have the most staff accountant jobs?
Portland, Tualatin, and Bend account for the most staff accountant openings in Oregon. Portland drives the largest share of demand, anchored by its concentration of corporate headquarters, regional offices, and major healthcare systems, while Eugene and Bend support a growing number of openings tied to university operations, regional financial services, and expanding manufacturing activity.
Are there remote staff accountant jobs in Oregon?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 71% of staff accountant openings tied to Oregon are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how much of the work centers on software-based reporting, reconciliation, and analysis that translates well to distributed teams. General ledger and accounts payable roles tend to be the most remote-eligible, while cost accounting and inventory roles more often require on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a staff accountant in Oregon with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an accounts payable or accounts receivable associate role, which large Oregon employers like Providence Health and Services and Nike use to bring in candidates without direct staff accountant experience. Oregon's university system, including the University of Oregon and Oregon State University, produces accounting graduates that regional healthcare networks and technology firms actively recruit through new-grad pipelines. Completing the first sections of the CPA exam and gaining proficiency in QuickBooks or SAP gives candidates without experience a concrete edge in the application process.
Where can I find and apply to staff accountant jobs in Oregon?
You can find and apply to staff accountant jobs in Oregon on Migrate Mate, which lists current Oregon openings. Search the listings to find roles that match your background and apply directly to the ones that fit.
