FP&A Analyst Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a fp&a analyst in California?
FP&A analyst roles in California do not require a state-issued license, but most employers expect a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or economics as a baseline. A CPA, CFA, or Certified Corporate FP&A Professional credential strengthens a candidate's profile and is increasingly valued in California's competitive finance market. From there, building experience in financial modeling, budgeting, and business partnering within a California-based company or industry you want to work in is the most direct path forward.
How much do FP&A analysts make in California?
FP&A analysts in California earn a median of about $109,110 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $72,840 for the lowest 10% to over $198,280 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire fp&a analysts in California?
Employers hiring fp&a analysts in California right now include Apple, Freenome, and Netflix, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. California's concentration of public technology companies, major entertainment studios, and well-funded life sciences firms means FP&A demand here tends to be higher and more specialized than in most other states.
Which California cities have the most fp&a analyst jobs?
Los Angeles, Irvine, and Beverly Hills have the most fp&a analyst openings in California, driven by the dense concentration of technology and media headquarters in the Bay Area and Los Angeles and the fast-growing biotech and defense finance sectors anchored in San Diego. Smaller markets like Irvine and Santa Clara also generate consistent demand because of the large corporate campuses and regional headquarters based there.
Are there remote fp&a analyst jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 25% of fp&a analyst openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how well this role translates to distributed work. The parts of the job most often done remotely include model building, variance analysis, and executive reporting, while business partnering and planning cycles sometimes draw people into the office for key sessions.
How can I get hired as a fp&a analyst in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a junior financial analyst or rotational finance program at a large California employer. Technology companies like Salesforce and semiconductor firms in Silicon Valley run structured finance rotational programs that include FP&A exposure. Accounting or audit roles at a California public company or Big Four office are strong lateral moves because they build the GAAP fluency and modeling discipline FP&A teams look for. A CPA candidacy or a completed financial modeling course adds a concrete credential that compensates for limited direct experience.
Where can I find and apply to fp&a analyst jobs in California?
