Our General Maintenance Worker position will perform general maintenance and cleaning of the MnDOT Golden Valley buildings and grounds as well as assist trades people and general repair workers at the Golden Valley property (and other Facility Management properties as needed) in related work and perform heavy manual labor.
Examples of work include:
· Perform repair and maintenance duties as assigned.
· Make minor repairs to buildings and equipment.
· Perform minor plumbing.
· Assist electrician with electrical projects.
· Assist in maintaining HVAC equipment.
· Removal of snow and ice from sidewalks and entrance.

NOTE: The incumbent is required to be immediately accessible by phone and able to report to work within one (1) hour of being called.
Knowledge of:
- Different types of flooring/floor covering sufficient to determine proper methods of maintenance and appropriate cleaning methods, materials, agents, and equipment.
- Chemical cleaning agents such as ammonia, bleaches, scouring agents and soaps sufficient to appropriately select the agent(s), handle and apply, and dispose of safely.
- Methods, tools, and equipment used in maintenance sufficient to use effectively and operate safely and to make minor repairs.
Ability to:
- Follow simple oral and written instructions
- Perform assigned tasks with limited work direction
- Perform parking lot snow and ice removal activities by operating (or learning to operate) snow and ice control equipment (e.g., loaders, pickup plows, skid steers, blowers, brooms, etc.)
- Keep simple records
Required:
- Valid Class D Driver’s License
Ability to obtain and maintain:
- DOLI Unlicensed Individual Electrical Work Registration within 6 months of hire
- DOLI Unlicensed Individual Plumbing Work Registration within 6 months of hire
