This role requires a proven business development leader with deep experience in the medical device industry and a strong network of industry relationships. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record of generating and closing new business, building strategic customer relationships, and driving revenue growth across medical device manufacturing, engineering, and related services. Experience identifying and developing new product development and R&D opportunities is highly preferred.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Director of Business Development and Growth will lead and oversee the Business Development, Marketing, and Sales teams, ensuring alignment with company goals and growth objectives. They will monitor industry trends to identify gaps, emerging opportunities, and competitive positioning. They will also develop and execute strategies for lead generation, client acquisition, and pipeline growth, with a strong focus on identifying and qualifying new business opportunities, particularly in research and development projects.
The Director of Business Development and Growth will oversee companywide marketing initiatives, including digital and print advertising, trade shows, social media, and market research. They will provide strategic direction and manages the day-to-day operations of the Sales and Marketing teams to drive performance and results. They will bring deep expertise in the medical device industry, supported by a well-established network of industry contacts.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Achieve revenue and gross profit goals both short term and long term for Manufacturing, Engineering, and QA/RA services.
- Establish business development structure and processes in compliance with medical device standards/regulations.
- Develop sales, marketing and advertising strategies and budgets.
- Assist with projects and priorities to meet customer deadlines.
- Assist with developing resource cost estimates for new customer proposals.
- Proposal generation and follow up, facilitate the internal quote process.
- Create business development metrics.
- Monitor effectiveness/tracking ROI of marketing campaigns and projects.
- Coordinate efforts of Business Development, Engineering, Operations, QA/RA and Senior Management in the sales process.
- Develop effective trade show strategy, budget, and ROI analysis.
- Engage prospective clients at the highest levels to ensure potential opportunities are maximized.
- Manage key customer relationships.
- Close sales opportunities.
- Conduct or facilitate customer meetings, tours and presentations.
- Mentor, coach and develop Business Development staff.
- Conduct employee performance reviews.
- Pricing strategy and maintenance.
- Screen potential projects for suitability and profitability.
- Manage and use company web site and social media to maximize sales potential.
QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES:Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems is also important.
- Ability to concurrently handle multiple project assignments, manage internal priorities and to lead as well as participate on cross-functional project teams.
- Understanding of new product development environment.
- Knowledge of PC skills (Word, Excel, and Access) and manufacturing data systems required.
- Experience in an ISO manufacturing experience a plus.
- Good knowledge of, and extensive contacts in, the Medical Device industry.
- Demonstrated sales growth generated in the medical device industry.
- Demonstrated sales closing ability.
- Contract negotiation skills.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree required, MBA desired with a minimum of 10 years in progressive responsibility in marketing and sales for medical product lines.
Interpersonal and Communication Skills:
Position requires regular contact both inside and outside the company at all organizational levels and the use of considerable tact, discretion, and persuasion in order to obtain willing action and consent. Regular contacts include, but are not limited to, the CEO, personnel in Sales and Marketing, Quality Assurance / Regulatory, Engineering, Production and Materials. Significant interaction with customers and vendors. Language Skills:
Must possess ability to read, write, speak clearly and succinctly, and comprehend the English language. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to prepare presentations and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to communicate effectively and make effective and persuasive presentations on controversial or complex topics to employees and top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MENTAL, PHYSICAL AND VISUAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to handle multiple priorities and deadlines under pressure. The position requires extensive work on a PC in an office environment. Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Pay: $210,000.00 - $220,000.00 per year
