Account Representative Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a account representative in California?
Most account representative roles in California require at least a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field. No state-issued license is required for the general role. Employers typically look for candidates who have completed an internship or entry-level sales role, are proficient in CRM tools, and can demonstrate a history of hitting goals. Some specialized areas, such as insurance account work, require a California Department of Insurance license.
Which companies hire account representatives in California?
Employers hiring account representatives in California right now include State Farm, Herc Rentals, and Frito-Lay, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. California's concentration of technology headquarters, large health systems, and financial services firms makes it one of the most active states for account representative hiring year-round.
Which California cities have the most account representative jobs?
San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego have the most account representative openings in California. The distribution reflects where California's largest enterprise technology companies, healthcare networks, and financial services firms are concentrated, with major corporate campuses and regional headquarters driving consistent demand in those metro areas.
Are there remote account representative jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 10% of account representative openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the role's strong fit with phone and video-based client work. Inside sales and SaaS account management positions are the most likely to be fully remote, while field-based or enterprise accounts typically require in-person visits.
How can I get hired as a account representative in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is landing a sales development representative or business development representative role, which large California technology companies like Salesforce, Adobe, and Intuit use as structured pipelines into account representative positions. Community college business programs and California State University campuses often have direct recruiting relationships with these employers. Building proficiency in Salesforce CRM and completing a short sales certification gives candidates a clear edge when competing against other entry-level applicants.
Where can I find and apply to account representative jobs in California?
You can find and apply to account representative jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current California openings from employers actively hiring. Find the roles that fit your experience and location, then apply directly from the listing.
