Account Representative Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a account representative in New York?
Most account representative roles in New York require a bachelor's degree, typically in business, marketing, or communications, though some employers accept an associate degree combined with relevant experience. The role carries no state-issued license in New York for most industries, so hiring is credential-driven rather than exam-based. Candidates who complete sales methodology training programs or earn a Certified Professional Sales Person credential stand out in the competitive New York market.
Which companies hire account representatives in New York?
Employers hiring account representatives in New York right now include State Farm, Northwell Health, and Frito-Lay, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's density of financial institutions, media companies, and healthcare organizations means account representative roles here tend to focus on high-value enterprise and institutional client portfolios.
Which New York cities have the most account representative jobs?
New York, Lake Success, and Buffalo have the most account representative openings in New York. New York City dominates because of its concentration of corporate headquarters in finance, media, technology, and pharmaceuticals, while Buffalo and Albany generate steady openings through regional insurance carriers, healthcare systems, and state-agency contractors that maintain large client-services teams outside the metro.
Are there remote account representative jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than many sales roles, since account management work centered on email, CRM, and phone outreach translates well to remote or hybrid arrangements. About 12% of account representative openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, which reflects New York employers adopting flexible models after the pandemic. Inside sales and renewal-focused account roles are the most likely to be listed as fully remote.
How can I get hired as a account representative in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a sales development representative or business development representative role, which large New York employers like insurance carriers, SaaS companies, and media groups use as structured pipelines into account management. Firms headquartered in New York City, including financial technology and media companies, run associate sales programs that train candidates without prior experience. A demonstrated record of quota attainment from any client-facing role, including retail or hospitality, combined with Salesforce familiarity, gives candidates a genuine edge.
