Marketing Communications Manager Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a marketing communications manager in New York?
Most marketing communications managers in New York enter the role with a bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or journalism, followed by several years in coordinator or specialist roles at agencies or in-house teams. No state-issued license is required, but New York employers consistently value candidates who have worked on measurable campaigns, managed media relations, or led content operations. Building a portfolio of campaign results and earning credentials like HubSpot Content Marketing or Google Analytics certifications strengthens candidacy in this competitive market.
How much do marketing communications managers make in New York?
Marketing communications managers in New York earn a median of about $181,200 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $104,140 for the lowest 10% to over $324,310 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire marketing communications managers in New York?
Employers hiring marketing communications managers in New York right now include Amazon, Sony Music Entertainment, and Foot Locker, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's dense concentration of financial institutions, global media companies, consumer brands, and healthcare organizations means demand for this role is spread across a wider range of industries than in most other states.
Which New York cities have the most marketing communications manager jobs?
New York, Brooklyn, and New York City have the most marketing communications manager openings in New York. Manhattan dominates due to its headquarters density across finance, media, and professional services, while Brooklyn has grown as a hub for consumer brands and creative agencies, and other metros like Buffalo and Albany reflect demand from healthcare systems, universities, and state government agencies that maintain in-house communications teams.

About 34% of marketing communications manager openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how broadly employers have embraced flexible work for this function. Content strategy, campaign planning, and media relations work tends to be most remote, while roles requiring frequent executive interaction or event management are more likely to require on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a marketing communications manager in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a communications coordinator or marketing associate role at a New York agency, media company, or large in-house team, where you build hands-on campaign experience before moving up. Major New York employers in financial services and healthcare, including hospital systems and insurance firms, regularly hire communications assistants and entry-level content specialists. A portfolio of writing samples, even from freelance or academic projects, carries significant weight, and completing a recognized credential like a HubSpot or Google certification helps candidates stand out before they have years of experience.
