Healthcare Jobs in Louisiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a healthcare in Louisiana?
The path depends on your specific healthcare discipline, but most clinical roles in Louisiana require completing an accredited program and obtaining licensure through the relevant Louisiana board, such as the Louisiana State Board of Nursing, the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners, or the Louisiana Licensed Professional Counselors Board of Examiners. After finishing your program, you sit for the applicable national or state exam, submit your application, and receive your Louisiana credential before practicing.
Which companies hire healthcares in Louisiana?
Companies currently hiring healthcares in Louisiana include Aveanna Healthcare, Nexion Health, and Sodexo, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Louisiana's largest health systems, including Ochsner Health and LCMC Health, maintain some of the deepest and most consistent pipelines in the state across both metro and rural facilities.
Which Louisiana cities have the most healthcare jobs?
Baton Rouge, Metairie, and Shreveport have the most healthcare openings in Louisiana. New Orleans leads because of its density of major hospital systems and academic medical centers, while Baton Rouge benefits from a large regional population and the presence of major systems like Our Lady of the Lake, and Shreveport draws hiring through Willis-Knighton and LSU Health anchoring the northwest region.
Are there remote healthcare jobs in Louisiana?
Yes, but they're rare. Healthcare is largely a hands-on field, so most Louisiana openings require on-site presence in a facility, clinic, or patient's home. About 44% of healthcare openings tied to Louisiana are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and the roles most likely to qualify are those in health information management, medical coding, care coordination, and telehealth services.
How can I get hired as a healthcare in Louisiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a patient care technician or certified nursing assistant role, positions that large Louisiana systems like Ochsner Health and LCMC Health actively hire for with no prior clinical experience. Both systems run structured new-employee orientation and on-the-job training. Completing a short Louisiana Board-approved CNA program and passing the state competency exam gives candidates a decisive advantage and opens the door to higher-level clinical roles after twelve to eighteen months of floor experience.
Where can I find and apply to healthcare jobs in Louisiana?
You can find and apply to healthcare jobs in Louisiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to Louisiana employers across disciplines and experience levels. Search the listings, find roles that fit your credentials and preferred location, and apply directly to the ones that match.
